Tiffany Springs, near KCI, in Mo.?

I used to take my jeep up there on the weekends, but I haven't been for quite a while. I heard a rumor that it is now posted "NO TRESPASSING" and patrolled. Just got a quad and wanted to do some local riding, but I don't wanna drive up there just to get fined/arrested/charged/shot at/harrassed/ticketed/towed or busted. The area is at the intersection of Childress and Tiffany Springs road. It's a nice little area with several types of riding including a little MX track. Plenty of mud and hills to keep even the most aggressive happy. Last time I was there I saw probably 50 bikes/quad/offroad vehicles. Just wandered if anybody had any idea of the area's current status.

I just bought a new quad also & went riding up there 2 weekends ago. I heard it is posted on the Childress side, but if you go another exit west on 152 to Hampton then go North just past the creek crossing you will see a trailer on the right & a field on the left. We parked down in the field, crossed the road & went into the woods from that side. It isn't posted & noone gave us any trouble, that doesn't mean that won't change but so far so good. Cool place to ride! Lots of Creek crossings! When I went it hadn't really rained in almost 1 month & there was still lots of mud. It must be really goooey now. What kind of quad did you buy? I bought a 2000 Arctic Cat 500 Auto.

Hey thanks for the info. I just bought a '91 Honda 250x. More of a sport bike than what you have. I have entered the riding area from the side you are talking about. I entered with my jeep at the sorta steep hill just before the creek crossing. Be aware that I have seen the K.C. police on that side twice. They were doing community service days with a bunch of people wandering through the woods with trashbags. Most of the people that were in the woods had funny looking orange outfits on. Yeah, this place stays wet year around and when it does rain it gets real sloppy. As matter of fact I had the good fortune to be back there when it started pouring. My Jeep is lifted with 35" mud tires and it became an issue just getting out.
F.Y.I. My understanding is at some point this was a riding area sanctioned by the City and when all that unsafe atv crap hit the news they removed the city signs. From that point until just recently it was ride at your own risk and the city still owns the property. Nothing can be developed on the land because it is the "crash zone" for a number of runways at the airport. I have been told they were "cracking" down on any kind of motorized riding in the area. There was still a mountain bike area on the west side and it is probabliy still open.
It was probably six months ago last time I went due to a family issue, but hope to go back soon. You going up there this weekend, Catlance?

No, I'm going to the Lake of the Ozarks this weekend to help my Dad get his house ready for summer. I'll put a post up or e-mail when I can go though & maybe we'll get together for a ride. My neighbor's kids play soccer at the fields on Hampton & she's the one who told me about the place. She says everytime she goes by there are a few trucks in the field & she's never seen the police around there. That doesn't mean they won't show up though. When I was up there I talked to a couple of guys on dirt bikes & they said usually you get written warning first & the cops said they ride also so they were pretty cool about it, just doing their job. But that was on the Childress side were it is posted. Have you ever been to Deepwater near Clinton? I haven't been yet but plan to go soon.

Directions to Tiffany Springs area,
This is the way I go.
I-29 North out of Kansas City, Downtown area.
Exit at 152 Highway West.(Near Barry Road)
Exit at Hampton, Turn Right.
About 1/8 - 1/4 of mile down Hampton road on the right.
I have always just driven in from there, but you can enter how you like, there are several places.
Some areas to park as well. Nice little area if it is not yet posted, No Tresspassing.

I live in Gladstone and getting ready to move to the tiffany greens golf course in about a month and was just wanting some more info and maybe some dates that people think they will be going up there cause it sounds like fun close to home. By the way check out my website it has trips to finger lakes, perry lake, little sahara(rattle snake weekend), and much more to look at. Thanks, Later
