So, Mark is the tomato king. Hey dude, tell me something about them little red suckers. Do they like a lot of water or a little water. Ive been planting tomatoes for several years and I cant figure out which is best.

Wow everyone's changing their icons. I can hardly figure out whose posting. I feel like I'm new all over again!

I think that everyone going to Sandlake 8/7 should make it a weeks stay, and travel down the coast on or around the 9th, to Coos Bay and visit with the nice people who will be staying and riding their from 8/9 to 8/13. Doesn't that sound like fun? Traveling down the Oregon Coast and visiting the beautiful dunes and beaches.....and oh yeah, their riding buddies!! I'm just wishing some of my riding family could be there with us! It's too bad that my "non-riding" family's reunion is on that weekend, or we could be there at Sandlake with you all!!

Well.....back to work!

They need a constant water supply,,,,if there is constant sun (without flooding)and good drainage. They also need good nutrient rich soil and full sun. (dont use the same soil 2 years in a row)

You should also trim the lower branches up a bit,,,,and when you water,,,,only water the soil (not the leaves,,they dont like to be wet) (to limit fungus growth). Surround the plant with a good bed of mulch,,,,to help keep the soil wet.

Trim the shutes that grow between the stem and branches.

They can be a pain at times (suseptible to a lot of diseases),,,,but the reward is usually worth it.

Plant some marigolds close by (helps keep tomatoes healthy). Get some organic granular fertilizer at the nursery.

Wait a second, you didn't choose you family but you did choose your riding buddies! And you're still going to the family reunion?
I'd love to go down to Coos for the week but unfortunately I have to work. Cindy is saving vacation days for when we go see Nate in Kentucky for family weekend in Sept. and for his graduation in Oct.

RacerGirrrrrrrl,

Too bad about the reunion being the same week-end as SandLake, it would have been fun to see you and Joel, Hap and I think you two are a hoot . Or wish we could stay over longer and come on down south the following week but the 'ol job won't allow it and still be able to have a couple of extra days for the Labor Day week-end. I think we should all have at least another 3-4 weeks a year of paid vacation to fit all of these things in don't you think??

Is it hot enough for everyone?? Man o' man, Sunday was like being in Texas!!

I should be able to put cherry tomatoes on the salad tonight,,,,,and salsa should be happening some time this weekend.

Watching the tomatoes grow is my new favorite pastime, and the rest of the week should really do them right. (sunny, 90's)
Yummy, home grown tomatoes, sound great Mark! I need to try some next year, attempted them once and they didn't do well at all.

I'm ready to go ride this weekend... Dinger was talking about coming up and riding either saturday or sunday, he's gotta find out if he works on saturday before he committs... he only gets a three day notice if he's going to work or not... anyway, I'll try to get a hold of him this week and find out...

If he doesn't plan on coming up, then I'm up for any day.
