You are leaving the valve stem out while trying to seat the beads aren't you? It lets the air in a whole bunch faster. Try using something wide like a tow strap, a rope is to narrow. Even a belt would be better than a rope.

well cutie the only thing holding me back is getting my beads set on my tires. i spent an hour on them today with no luck, i tried the rope and soap method with no luck. the main problem is when they sent them to me they shink rapped them and put flat spots on the outside of the tire. when i cinch the rope down instead of sucking in uniformly it gets flats spots and rigdes so the bead doesnt flex out all the way around. tomorrow im am going to another tire store and see if they have better luck, if not i may try cyclebarn. if all else fails i will do the starter fluid trick but that is a last resort. Good morning back to you Sir, I'm always in good spirits when I have the day off I did the Good Spirits in my younger days, these days I am happy to just kick back with Hollywood and watch the festivites on the tube, but since I'm getting up early for the ride tomorrow, I'll probably be in bed by 8:00pm, you know how us early risers are, or is that older folks are
