Bing; I started doing this type of break-in 35 years ago on my race cars and quickly figured out if it works there it should work for all engines. With the Arctic Cats you have to burnish the brakes. Accelerate to about 30 mph and banzai stop the sucker at least 3 times. I did it six and six more for the foot brake. Then I went out and ran it to max mph and stopped 6 more time. By the time I was done I had 3 mph more top speed and I have picked up 2 more mph in the last 400 miles as the rest of the engine, tranny and drive train wore in. I am getting the oil changed at half the miles recommend cause I am chicken when it comes to oil contamination. I usually change the filter half way thru the 600 miles the the oil is to be changed at also, this removes the dirtiest oil from the engine.
