Okay a question for U Master mechanics out there? Iv'e got a tap tap tapping sound that seems to be getting louder each time I ride. I hear it the most at iddle. It sounds like valves to me so I checked them and IN is .13mm with tolerance .10-.20mm EX is .23mm with tolerance .20-.30mm. four months ago IN was at .20mm and EX was same. Could it be that with IN tightening up it is causing that noise and I should look at loosening the IN up a little or is there something else i should check? I also have had a exhaust leak between head pipe and silencer off and on, because Duncan doesn't make a gasket and said to use RTV that just keeps blowing out 20 mins into riding. Could the leak be causing some valve probs? I haven't noticed any loss of power, still slow but faster than BlueHonda. Had to get that in there in prep for Woodland on Sunday.

beyond that,,,,start narrowing things down (maybe a loose bolt or skidplate),,,,which you have likely already done...
If you are having any exhaust blow-by, it will make a clatter. Be sure you are TDC on you valve adjustment and maybe loosen the valves up a little (seems that they were on the tight end of the spectrum)
i would say its something simple,,,,,,,,those 400's are bulletproof,,,,,and I aint no expert
I am so glad I made it to Walker today!!! It was a HOOT runnin those slippery, muddy azz trails all over.
I had a real good time following the WSQR guys up and down the sloppy trail towards the end of the day.
Enough cant be said about the big white trailer with the hamburger smell. It was great to finally meet the rest of the northenders!!!! You guys are a class act
I will make sure Julie is on the next ride,,,,,she really missed out!!!!
Anybody wanna meet me at Walker in the AM??,,,,,(may as well squeeze in one more ride,,,,,before i do laundry.....
again,,,,thanks for the fun day ya'll!!!

It's good to hear your back is healing up and you have been able to get out and play
Good luck on your continued improvement

Sounds like a fun ride today, glad everybody had a great time
Took my daughter to Oakwood for her first race today.
I'm in trouble, or should I say my checkbook is in trouble :
Something about a competitive 10 y/o girl, that just wants to beat the boys
She has been bitten by the bug.
Kinda timid on the first start, little intimidated I think. Let them all go past her and she followed.
In them Main, her goal was to beat the boys down the straight away to the first corner. I told her to focus on one spot at the end of the straight away, and when the green lights goes to pin the throttle and hold her line. She did and beat 3 of the six to the fist corner, but inexperience in cornering let the others by. Oh well, good learning for her.
So, dad has to open up the checkbook now
That lil LT80 will be able to hold it's own without to many mods I think, experience for her will be the biggest help.
So, New tires will be on order Tuesday, along with A-arm extenders or wheel spacers.
Maybe a few minor other mods, but nothing major for this year.
Now I see how much fun you northenders have up there.
I think this will be a fun venture, might even have to see about coming up to visit your race venues up there.
We stuck around to watch the big boys race to. Man some of those guys are fast, wowwww.
I want one of those........... Never mind, I'd just hurt myself
They run a pretty good show at Oakwood, very friendly people.
Lots of racers, they sure have to keep things moving to get everybody done.
But OMG, safety around the track is severely lacking. This almost caused a couple accidents.
From allowing bystanders to stand unprotected right in the corner, to some corner workers not paying attention due and/or to having to do 2 jobs at a time (which on two occassions almost led to subsequent crashes because guys coming into the corner didn't know there was a crash), to crossing and walking across the track during races, to one corner worker trying to do track maintenance during a race (instead of between races).
A accident waiting to happen. We'll see how it is next time, but I sure hope they have good insurance.

Quad4,
Just sell your Rinny, take the extra cash you make on the deal and build her quad up for racing!!! Now that she has the bug, the boys are right behind her, from here on out it's all about racing and the kids, your riding days are over

If anybody's interested, I'll be riding South Prairie Saturday, between Orting and Buckley. Troy from the WSQR Site (he was on the Z-400 on the last trail ride at Walker), Runamuk0 and Trail Princess will in attendance, I'm sure more from the southend will be riding as the week goes on. Nothing technical, mostly powerline and trails, pretty easy stuff, not a real big place, doing more exploring than anything. Of course there are puddles and some mud bogs to get stuck in, along with a few decent hill climbs. We'll be meeting at 9:00, parking becomes scarce around 11:00, you have to park on the sides of a deadend dirt road which means, if you have a big rig, arrive early in order to get it turned around, F350 Crew Cab with 16' trailer can turn around, as long as you get there early
