Default Puget Sound/Seattle NW Area Riders Meet HERE!!!

Morning everyone. Yep, another newbie introducing themselves. I briefly met some of you last night on the PSAR chat. I'm getting back into quads after nearly 13 years of not owning one. It's something I've always wanted to do again, but life just got in the way. Now I'm finally at a point where I can get back into the hobby/passion. It will be slow at first. 5 in my family. 3 riding age, and only one quad and no trailer. I hope to get another quad and a trailer within the next 2 weeks. *** looking for a 150 - 250 range 4-stroke quad and 2 atv trailer if anyone knows anybody selling*** Will probably be doing a lot of local weekend trips this summer. Tahuya, Evans Creek, etc. Ocean Shores possibly. I think they allow riding over there. Hopefully, I'll be able to hook-up with the group and get to know some of you. You all seem like a great bunch of folks.

edit: I added a couple pics, but I guess they haven't been approved yet.
Wejcome Jedi. I live SW of you in Union on beautiful Hood Canal. I am retired/disabled but ride all the time locally around Mason county. During the week either my wife or another old guy and I ride from our houses or go out to the Mason County Fairgrounds (15 minutes from my house). The local area we ride reaches from Hwy 101 to Belfair to Allyn to Shelton. A very large area with logging roads, gaslines, powerlines, trails, hills and even water traps. You are weclcome to come over for day rides, either during the week and even on weekends, just drop a note on the forum or PM me. I will be doing Evens Creek with the group on the 9th of April. I rode it earlier this year with another bunch, and am looking forward to riding there without wearing my bike as a blanket.

Welcome Jedimike.

Ocean Shores does not allow riding. The closest ocean front riding is Sandlake , Oregon.
Hopefully with the passage of HB1003 that situation will change and we will be able to ride the beaches.

Does anyone know if they allow dune buggies at ocean shores?

If they are street legal and licensed, Yes. Otherwise NO. This is what's stupid about the present situation. My Honda Spree, all 50cc's and max speed of 27mph is legal everywhere, even on the freeway (God Forbid). But a bigger, more stable and faster quad is not. Logic says something is wrong with this picture. Oh yeah, government is involved. What was I thinking?

Thx for the invite bear... don't be suprised when I take you up on the offer. I'm itching to go out and have some leave built up at work. Taking a day off sounds very inviting.

I didn't know about Ocean Shores... I thought I saw quads for rent last time I went, but it has been a couple years. I know you can ride anything street legal on the beach, but I also thought ORV's were OK. Did a quick search on HB1003. That should definitely open things up for us.

The problem with beach riding is that under state law beaches are part of the state highway system and are classified as roads. Thus, one must be street legal. HB 1003 would fix this problem if the county in which the beach is located decides to allow riding. On that note, HB 1003 is out of Senate committee and ready to go to the Senate Floor for passage in the next week or so. Unfortunately, the Senate Committee amended the bill, abeit only a little. This means the bill must go back to the House for concurrence after it is passed by the Senate. The problem is that every step added to the process increases the likelihood the bill will not make it through. But, by all accounts it still looks positive for the bill to make it all the way through this year.

It would be a good thing to pass, among other things. Washington State loses a lot of revenue via the recreational dollars we spend by traveling to Oregon to ride the coast. Never understood why Washington doesn't pay attention to that. Oregon invests money to develop nice ORV parks I am willing to drive to use. I might not be able to afford to do it as often as I like, but since my state has failed to provide anything to attract me to stay here, Oregon gets my money whenever I get the chance. And it's not just the parks that get the revenue, it would also be the tourist dollars, etc. spent in the area too. It would be nice to have the option to have something closer to home. I would certainly say there are enough people in this state that enjoy our sport that would probably go more often if SOW would get a clue.

Until then, keep up the good fight! The more we educate people to the benefits of our sport, the better off we are.
