The Governor has signed HB-1003 and it goes into effect July 1, 2005. At that point we need to make sure the Forest Service opens their roads and also work on your local county commissions to open up their roads. Also the logging companies. It might be to our advantage to use the PSAR Group and make up a letter head and have out individuals that can or want to take our message to these different agencies with the groups backing. Your thoughts please.
One of my co-workers told me yesterday that there is a trail that just opened that goes from Greenwater all the way over to Easton. Now that would make for a sweet ride. I dont know my way around all the mountain areas all that well, But he did mention Lester as one of the stops along the way. I guess its time to get the maps out and start looking at what there is as far as a long ride which would need a refueling stop or two along the way.

Thanks for the news bear. I'm all for donating a few bucks if PSAR wants to become an "official" group... kind of like Quadrapaws. Money could be used for lots of different things and possibly PSAR could be involved in some volunteer projects. Personally, I would love to see Gray's Harbor open some land.
just did a search... sorry for long post, but I thought it was relevant.
Reopen ORV Park in Gray's Harbor/Thurston County
Thurston County ORV Park
The Northwest Outdoor Coalition has been working with Gray's Harbor County to have the county take over the operations of the park. It has taken a collaborative effort with Gray's Harbor County, Thurston County, IAC, The legislators and users to make this a possibility.
We are very close but need some encouragement from the users.
Gray's Harbor is afraid that they will not get the volunteer efforts like the park has seen in the past. We have told them not to worry but that is something they are afraid of. With the help of Representative Condota, Senator Sheldon and the governors office we have been able to work into each of their budgets a line item that would provide guaranteed M&O funding for the park for two years. When all of the budgets come together it should be in it as all three are supporting it.
The rally in Olympia was a success and we need to keep that momentum going! There is a great chance we may be getting the Thurston County ORV Sports Park open again but we need your help. Please write or email the following newspapers and write, email or call the commissioners from Grays Harbor County. Let them know that you want to see the ORV Park re-opened and that what we do is a family sport. Re-opening the park will bring revenue back to the area and to Grays Harbor County. There are a few people out there trying to stop the progress and they are flooding the papers and the commissioners with negative information. It is up to you to help get the positive truth out to the public.
Two big items are "this is a family sport" and "this will bring back an economic boom to the Gray's Harbor area".

I'm not against organizing an official group...
Please consider the existing groups out there that are in need of proactive members that already have the infrastructure in place for finances and leadership and are established in areas. Some on this thread have experience with new club teething pains, and from what I understand it will either make or break the organization and/or friendships.
Delivering a message from PSAR as one group to the respective agencies might be challenging... PSAR currently represents all those that post on this thread... To deliver a message with the PSAR logo on it would state that we, as an organized group, are making a statement and all agree. For the most part I think we are all in alignment on most issues concerning riding, but definately do not share the same views as the rest of the members of PSAR on all issues. To start up a club and have official members, would exclude those that post on this thread and do not want to belong or have the time to devote to another organization.
We can still (without being a traditional club) organize trail maintenance, trail clean-up or other events. I'd be up for picking a day to ride with trash bags and pick up trash in one of our favorite riding areas... Give a little towards the areas we ride to keep them open...
We could organize gatherings at public hearings, letters to agencies from individuals, trail maintenance with the DNR/BLM, on this thread or the other sites we have established and use the name PSAR.
Again, I'm not against organizing a club, but it takes time, money and energy. I don't think the same cenergy will carry over from this thread to a club. This is a great group of people and I enjoy all the rides/camping trips we go on, but I don't want to ruin a good thing...
