Interesting that you found something in case law, because the Washington State Attorney General says the tribal police don't have authority over anyone in Washington State, except tribal members. I saw the piece of paper myself, well actually a copy of it. I do know Tim on a first name basis and he really isn't someone you want to screw with. He has kick both political parties butts in court this last year (they tried to keep him from being a State Senator and a Mason Country Commissioner at the same time). He is for the people he represents and not for the political parties, they don't like him much. By the way he is a nice guy and usually when I see him he has been working around their farm and is in coveralls. And he is for ATVs completely. Last year Rep. Kathy Haigh lied to him to get him to co-sponsor a bad ATV bill. Several of the locals got to speak to him about it and he dropped his sponsorship and got the bill killed in the other house. He stopped the rest of the bad ATV legislation last year and is working with our guys to stop these jacka$$es that want to outlaw ATV's with noise regs a Cadillac couldn't pass.

Just as any law enforcement juristiction, business, etc etc with employees.
The employees are tasked to do their job, and do not make up the rules.
In his case, he sure the heck shouldn't try to throw around his weight being a politician to either get out of the ticket or because he doesn't believe they have any authority. Don't be an a$$ to the officer when the officer isn't being as a$$ to you. Uncalled for, especially from a politician.
I hear they have documents saying they do have juristiction.
So as I say below, if you don't like it, take it to court................
Being somebody people don't want to screw with can be a good or bad thing.
When he got pulled over he wasn't "being screwed with", so he shouldn't have acted like a political god (my words).
Bottom line he was speeding and shouldn't have been.
If he doesn't like it, then take it to court, which he is doing.
Just because of the way he was acting, I sure hope he loses..........
If he wins, then so be it, at least do it the right way........
This sounds like one of those small town local pi$$ing matches, maybe with him pushing the issue it will get resolved finally..........
A family member of his got a ticket and she paid it, she was speeding, got caught, and paid her dues.

That would be a pretty cool law to have on the books though, cause then I could go to the res and steal whatever I wanted, beat up whoever I wanted, drag race all over, kill anybody that p'd me off, stop at their gas station and not pay for it(hey, that's a good one). Wow, could that also mean since I don't live in the City of Tacoma, I can go there and do what I want? I'm not a citizen of that city so I'm not bound by the cities laws????????
That would be sweet to be able to go into a juristiction with a different law enforcement agency than where I live and not have to follow their rules........
