Don't forget to check the Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Rating on the truck you're looking at... doesn't matter what the plackard says on the side F-150, 2500, etc. if it isn't rated to tow what you want. You'll find what others are saying hold true, the 1/2 ton may not work for the long run. The ones that are over loaded are just running on borrowed time. If not for the chassis but the brakes and overall handling characteristics.

Check the plackard on the trailer that shows the fully loaded capacity. Make sure the truck and trailer loaded with gear added together don't exceed the CGVWR, then look what engine you want. Doesn't matter how fast you get there, it just matters that you do get there. At least you'll know what truck you'll be looking for...

I must be completely crazy! We have a Sandlake trip in September (big atv wedding there), Winchester for Thanksgiving, and GLAMIS (woohoo) over Christmas.
