Hmm, something to think about.
All of my hunting is done over in eastern washington. Do you really think a 270 would have enough power to kill a elk? I just want a really good gun, i dont' need a scope as i have a leupold scope. I will have to go check out the 270's.

My Farmer's Insurance agent in Lake Stevens (Frontier Village) also sells Progressive insurance, I get a cheap rate too. Just got back from looking @ Kart tires for the mini, think we'll forget that idea, I hate to have to buy 4- 6" rims, them turn around & buy 4- 8" rims so I KNOW the blaster rears fit it(but one of the lug nuts got rounded off trying to get it off [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img], think htye had 600lbs torque on it), so NOW I need to get DJ's dremel & cut it off I guess MAN I hate when that happens LOL so once we get that off he'll run tamers ont he rear & Maggiesboy I THINK those Burris' will be for sale [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] I work a good deal for ya!!

I like my 30-06... If you're just hunting white tail and black tail, you can go with a 150 grain bullet. Mulies might require a 180. If you're hunting larger animals such as elk, you're better off using a 220 grain for more impact. If you're using a heavy grain, go target practice with a lighter one and see if it's too much recoil, you may change your mind.
I actually like using a 30-30 for hunting deer. It's light, lever action and you have to get in close. My father-in-law has one with buck-horn sights, fun to use. Not recommended if you're not out for a challenge. Bagging a deer is secondary in my opinion, I just like getting out when I go.

hmmm yeah i guess if your a girl you need them heavy bullets to kill chit. 130 grain outta the 270 is sufficient to drop an elk. you shouldnt really be shootin critters past 200 yards anyway. Unless its a real nice bull sittin on that ridge 1500 yards away.. but thats when you pull out the 50BMG and lob one over [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
