what Jayna and I did was wrap the pipe with header wrap for race cars. works great, looks good, if you take your time to install. Otherwise, carbon fibre heat shields are $30.00 plus duckets
Originally posted by: warriorqueen[QTalking about pants. Acouple of months ago i got some pants from the barn, which i paid good money for. I have worn them three, i repeat three times and they are burnt to $hit! The pants i got are the zip off kind so you can take the leg part off and have shorts. The burn is pretty much the lower part you zip off! The right pant leg keeps touching the exhaust that is close to the foot rest. Does anybody know of a heat shield that is already made for the Z400? I noticed on Justin's 700 there is a heat shield where my pant leg is getting burnt on.
I thought I kept toasting my raingear on the header under the heat shield, but it was actually that little exposed piece of pipe above the right heel guard in the back and under the seat. I just left the header under the stock heat shield alone. Haven't scorched a single piece of gear since I wrapped mine thanks to MB's genius. Not nearly as expensive as trying to replace your riding pants or raingear every other ride.

Warrior Queen + ?????
Kenny?
Rusty?
10:00 AM at the Mason Country Fairgrounds in Shelton. 9:00 AM for breakfast at Denny's in Shelton (It's a good Denny's, I am friends with the Manager).
Directions to Shelton. The fastest way is go to Olympia on I-5 and exit to Hwy 101/Hwy 8. Exit on Hwy 101 (the Shelton/Port Angeles exit) to the right west of Olympia. Follow Hwy 101 to the third Shelton exit (Wallace-Kneeland Blvd). Right at stop sign to stop light and at stop light, right turn and the first left is Denny's. Fairgrounds are 1/4 mile past 3rd Shelton exit on Hwy 101. Turn left at fairgrounds and 1/4 mile down access road at first cross road, turn left into large dirt area.
Anyone else going to make this ride???

Yes, the exhaust wrap works beautifully. Just wrap from front to back, the end of the stock heatshield back to the beginning of the muffler. We used 2" pipe wrap and overlapped in all the way back 1". I don't think I even used 8 feet of the stuff for that section.
