I would go with the 360 and a 18" bar ( less teeth to file) and you can still cut a 36" tree.

I know the 360's alittle overkill for the trails but, I have to think of future usage, firewood and such and this will be the last one bought. The 260 is definitely more suited for the trails due to size and weight (which I don't care about, the weight that is) but the cutting ability of the 360 is awesome and only $40.00 difference in price, got the quotes already, including the discounts. Recommened bar for the 360 is 20", 260 is 18" but you can go from 16"- 20" on both saws.I'm thinking an 18" bar for either would be alright. Does anyone out there have any input? I posted before about what brand of saw to get, now it's just down to which one. I'm willing to listen to all the stories on how it will be too heavy for toting around on the trails so fire away.Larry

Quads Only and the guy who runs Goldendale want to put an event together, "Quads Only" on April 25th. There will be more details coming in the next couple of weeks.

Dear Happapaulbunyan-
Hey, save some of the 36" trees to slow you down! Fischer-Price makes a great entry level saw that you may want to practice with before you step up to a larger model. They're much more cost effective, and you'll have a few more digits to scoop up apple pie with. Just a note of concern from your friends.

HappaStihl,
You can always put a smaller bar on the larger engine saw but usually not the other way around.
And don't worry about the heavier saw, the Polaris can handle it. j/k
Also the heavier saw will cut better, more weight behind it.
Gotta go check the stew...............

Re: XC @ goldendale...
i have ridden this track and can say that it's great for both beginners and pros, utility & sport machines, it's a very fun track to ride. there is nothing overly difficult or very technical, it just has lots of turns & some rough sections... there are some mild jumps, whoops, tabletops, gulleys, off-cambers, etc., but no 'sky shooter' type jumps or doubles/triples. on a dry day the sport machines have a speed & handling advantage, but if it rains, the utilities may shine due to the clay mud.
if we get enough riders, i'm sure they will figure out whatever classes makes it fair- pro, expert, amature, beginner, & first time racers... i'd like to see both an ironman & tag team race come of it too... i'll be there! we need to get word out to riders from Idaho & Oregon too if it goes
also, FYI: camping is free at the track.
yodaddy- sounds like this is the quad only scramble you were looking for... or a very good step in that direction!
