Default Puget Sound/Seattle NW Area Riders Meet HERE!!!

700s are for pain seekers, even in rifles. My normal load is a 405 gr LFN at 1600 fps. I shoot these for hunting out of my Contender Super 14. I have some 350 JRN for my Ruger #1 that leave the muzzle at about 2200 fps, but those hurt even in a rifle.
I agree 700s are really max for the 45-70. Used to be a guy in Wishram, Wa that had a garage based bullet casting business. I got a bunch of 850 Gr gas checked hollow points from him. Not much velocity but was fun to shoot them on a sunny day. You could stand beside the shooter and watch them arc out toward what was being shot at. Almost slow enough to pass shoot with a shotgun. Unfortunitly he went out of business, near fatal case of lead poisening. His girlfriends husband shot him.

You just don't want to ride with the non-pirate members

You got that right, those youngsters will have time to smoke their cigarettes and talk about the night out on the town they had the night before while us old farts bring up the rear

I been trying to forget it for well over a year. The shrink expense is getting outrageous and the nighmares have the wife ready to use a hypo on me at night so I won't wake up screaming. Besides I won't bring my big trailer and you won't fit on my little one.

For the trails I wear boots and chest protector, I feel the chest protector is very important on the trails, but not everybody wears one, especially ute riders, they tend not to wear one, where as the sporties usually wear one.
