You ever lived with a real workin bordercollie? Leave them in the barn with the sheep. You Can NOT live with them in the house. Unless your a nutcase like my oldest brother. They never stop they herd the other dogs. they do not snuggle. A true border Collie is a ***** and will work for anyone because the only thing thats on their mind is work work work.. Aussies are lovers. and wiggle butts. totally differnt. and they have to be around their people. border collies really could give a chit less about their people. One of my oldest brothers Border collies has to live in a box when he is not working. because he doesnt turn off. and he has two of them and they herd eachother to no end and fight. Its ridiculous.

You got both breeds pegged OneFly. We went to a Blue Heeler/Dingo cross to get away from the Border Collie attitude. One of them is always the alpha dog but the rest of them always are fighting for rank in the pack. With the crosses the alpha, always a bitch, keeps everyone in line. I also worry about Borders as they always want to control anyone that comes to visit. Nipping at heels, butts and such. Aussies really are lovers but require a lot of attention or they will find a way to entertain themselfs. Usually involves mischief and something expensive.

I really don't like buying pups at pet stores, they usually come from "puppy mills" that are just kicking out as many dogs as they can to turn a profit. You'll usually get a better pup from a breeder that has been in the business awhile and lets you sit and watch the pups and play with them to find one that fits your personality. JMHO and I could be wrong. But based on past experiance I don't think I am.

ACD/Aussie makes a real nice fast maturing working dog provided its given direction. I almost drove down to california to pick up an aussie for my middle brother. It was a breeding Very hard to pass up.. Like with horses and working bloodlines i know my doggy blood too Muddys grampa is 45 Ranch Bull Tuff. one of the most bad *** aussies their has been for working Bulls Muddys Momma is what makes him a lil more on the reserved side as he is real similar temperment to her. 2 of muddys litter went to germany and work on ranches there. a couple are agility/flyball dogs in canada and andother is a boat dog. sails around the world. The people that i got mud from have an aussie stud that does not play with toys of anysort. no fetch no nothin. all he does is work. he is the best Pen dog for sheep in the NW. Its very funny though. i have had mud around the Other aussies AKA Fluff Dogs. and their people. those people look at my boy like he is a mutt. with aussies as with anyother dog its important in OFCs mind to get to know the breeder and know their philosophy and what they are breeding for and figure if that fits you. cuz when you get a dog its for the life of the dog. I am always watching rescue to find muddy a buddy. a girl I know has the dog i wanted.. but i have a feeling she will be giving me the dog cause she is struggling with the bond and the dog adores me.

Wow, I started a pretty good debate huh.........Then left for a couple days
thanks for all the thoughts....

I really love my '97 Crewcab PSD. It only has about 109,000 miles.
Expecially since I finally washed/waxed and took the canopy off. It looks really good.
It is a sweet truck, and the the truck I've always wanted.
I hate the thought of getting rid of it.
If only I could just find a couple grand on the street somewhere and I would keep it.
I think the guy drove the pi$$ out of it before I got it.
It really lacks power for some reason, and gets crappy gas mileage.
My trailer has only weighed at most 5000 lbs. so far. I hate going up hills and stuff.
Everything is still stock on it, I haven't added/changed anything.
But I've got buddies with the same truck, in stock form, that run way way better and get 6-7 more MPG.

Oh well, I'll figure it out I spose

tencubed,

I think the Kodiak is pretty good, would probably work good for your wife.
Plus the new ones have IRS..
My Rincon with the IRS is a plush ride on the trails.. It soaks up almost everything.
For the way it sounds like she will ride, the Kodiak may be a good bet for her.

Good Luck
