Took it back to the shop Saturday afternoon. Think the flywheel key got sheared. It acts like it's out of time. Fires out the tailpipe and carb, just not in the cylinder. They're going to pull the side-case off and look. I took it back, since they did the install the last time... They said they'd get to it early this week.

that's what happened to my Bomb after we put it back together. Down at Florence the key sheared and it was doing just as you say yours is doing, it even blew the carb loose (That rubber piece). Josh rebuilt the keyway and made it work

Sounds like they'll solve the issue... wonder what would cause it to shear if that's the issue. It has only idled a few minutes since the fly-wheel was installed.

If that is a taper shaft with keyway setup on that flywheel you might try a trick a chainsaw mechanic taught me. First the shaft and flywheel must be clean and dry. No oil at all. Use a new key and put the flywheel in place and torque it down. Now put a socket large enough to go over the shaft and nut/washer and rest on the flywheel against the flywheel and strike it quite sharply with a hammer. Retorque the nut. Usually it will tighten another eighth of a turn or so. Works on most any taper shaft that wants to shear keys.

The trouble with hitting flywheels with magnets in them is you can screw up the magnets (either weaken or totally destroy their magnetic properties or if they are the glued in type of magnets you can knock them loose. Hitting the end of the crank to knock a flywheel loose is totally different than hitting the flywheel inself. In almost all cases, if the key is sheared, the nut was not torqued correctly.

I am back in town now. LONG drive. Wish I woulda taken my quad. The pony farm I got to visit this weekend is on the edge of National forest access into the mountains around Lake Walowa(I think) outside Joseph, OR. What a georgeous area! I would LOVE to have a piece of property/farm like that in such a phenomenal area. They told me I should bring it next time so I think I will have to figure out how. DM, Rod's right on the button, you got yourself some spyware and that popup is a scam. I have the programs to get it all fixed up for you. I will come get your laptop, too.
