Old PSAR thread - please see the new one
I've done alot of research into the Plasma vs LCD, very interesting reading. I don't think it's the brand or just because it's a plasma, I think you just got a lemon, possibly, I'm not an expert by any means. I would request another set.
A buddy of mine said don't get a LCD. He said the color and blackness are great (better true black than plasma) but that if you like to watch sports (football) the LCD leaves a slight shadow trail on fast moving images. The plasma don't.
A few years back the plasma life was about 3,500 hours, good only for a theater room. Now they are good for 60,000-80,000 hours!

I read all the pros and cons of both, plasma gets a slight thumbs up over LCD, but very slight. Like you said, it depends on what you're watching and the lighting of the room. There are so many factors in picking one over the other, it's difficult making a decision. I do know one thing for sure, when the broadcast signal goes digital, you'll have to rent or buy the box for your analog tv in order to watch anything.
we are in for some near record flooding

Which is why they have to be at least 6 feet tall. If their boat sinks they can walk back to shore. GO NAVY!

With the luck (?) Bing had yesterday, he had better skip anything that could get the least bit dangerous. Even the Coasties don't like it out there in this weather, but then again they are shallow (Brown) water sailors.

Not recomended I got caught in a storm out there one day, in my little 14' Aluminum boat with a 25 horse johnson I made it from the narrows all the way back to solo point (across from anderson island. I thought the whole boat was gonna come apart

Geez, When I was stationed on the USCG POINT WHITEHORN in St. Thomas Virgin Islands for almost 2yrs, the water sure was the clearest blue a man could see. I do recall pulling into Navy Base Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico the weekend after their local NAVY ship was deployed, let me tell U us Coasties took well care of all those drunk lonely women!
Other than not wanting to stay for a career I can not say anything bad about my choice of branch of service. I completely believe that where I am today with my AWESOME career is 100% related to my 5yrs of being a COASTIE!
