Focus did better in the ice than either of the bigger rigs did last time, front wheel drive works great in the icey conditions and the snow.

Heard on the radio today that Gold Bar got 10" of snow yesterday and last night. Reiter probably got more. It's gonna be fun!
4X4 will more than likely be needed to reach the upper staging area or where we staged last time.
Happa said he will run his quad in the upper staging area road to see if it's clear. He thinks the trees will be removed by now, I'm not so sure.

Weather report for Gold Bar on Sunday is partly cloudy with a high of 38. Reiter should be a little colder. Beautiful!

Breakfast at 7:30a seems to be the consensus. So for those that might not make Breakfast, what time to meet up at the staging area? And with 25 or so people going at last count, are we gonna try the upper staging area or just shoot past to the upper road?
i was almost in deep 2wd doo doo today. but i let off the trottle and clunked it into 4x4 while sliding sideways and managed to get back on da road

bring an airtank and just let the air outta your tires
Happa will check out the upper staging area road on his quad, if it's clear of trees we'll stage there, if not we'll stage on the road like last time.

What route do you take to get over there? Looks like up the Columbia on 84 and then south from Heppner junction would be good.

All three trips last year with the NWQRs group have been great. The other good thing is we usually do a fast and slow group and everyone ends up happy.

The Northwest Quad Riders ( NWQR ) are having a group ride on Memorial Day Weekend at the Morrow County OHV Park . The wife and I are going to stay in one of the cabins, but there is a nice RV park in the park. The NWQR has a thread for this ride: Morrow County Thread. This is the same group that I did two China Hat rides with last year and one Capital Forest ride the weekend after the 4th.

Hey Bear, when was that ride the NWQR have planned? I went back and looked for it but you know how this place adds pages. Could you re-post that? Tnxs

My Delorme map program says it is quicker and shorter to Exit I-84 at Biggs. Go south on Hwy 97 to SR 206 and follow SR 206 to Condon and then take SR 19 to the park. It's 335 mile in just over 7 hours from my house that way. Their way is 775 miles and not quite 8 hours.
