I got offered a new job today. Still within my company, but as a Fiber Network Field Tech. It's a job that I will really enjoy. The only sticking point I will have is I have 3 weeks to prep for pole climbing. They are going to see if they will hold my position until my wrist heals, but haven't heard from the doc if it's broken or just badly sprained. Either way, it's going to be a challenge to work on my upper body strength between now and then. Hoping I can suck it up and get through the one week course.
I can barely climb out of my lzy boy right now, but I will see if in a week or two we can hook up and I can hopefully help U. Do U have hooks already, and have U climbed yet and been taught the basics like one knee always straight in case U cut out it will stab back in if Ur leg is locked. Is all Ur climbing belt climbing, if so that is somewhat easier, we had to free climb 65ft without belt, regulations soon will be changing on that and looks like things will be going towards double belts.

I probably will be off at least till the 21st so lets see what we can do to help U get that job.
That'd be great! I don't have equipment, but I can get it before the class.
It's been 5 years since I last took the class. I didn't have a clue then what was involved and only did stair climbing in prep, didn't work upper body. We are required to free climb to 22 ft, belt in, walk around the pole then unbelt and free climb down by the end of a 1 week course. Not that bad, but I didn't have the arm strength to do it by the end of the week. I climbed and did everything the entire week, but had to belt in at 14' on the final, so I failed. Once we are in the field, it's tech's choice. Never made sense to me why they even want us to climb without the belt. Double belts seems like a much safer idea. No prob with heights for me, but I don't really care to burn a pole. I was always careful to step firm so if I gaffed out, I was balanced to catch myself. That was 5 years ago, gonna have to bust **** for the next 3 weeks.

If U are able to work out using one of the stairclimber(I think that is what they are called) it is where U step up and Ur arms follow suit. When U climb it is a rythem, right leg and right arm move up at same time, left leg locked out, then left leg and arm up together. An ez exercise is using a step and practice to music stepping with leg and arm both moving up at same time. Also don't rely too much on arms to hold U on the pole, it is more balance and using legs to push yourself up. We will work on it and see what kinda of schedule we can work out.

It is illegal to register your quad, or any vehicle for that matter, if you are a resident of Washington. There is a gray area that if you own property in Oregon it isn't illegal per Oregon law, bur Washington sure as hell will write you if they ketch you. FYI, If Washington does catch you, the fine will be way more than the sales tax and the registration fees. You ask how do the find out? You in the staging area getting ready to unload your rig and the cop walk up and notices your Wshington tabs on you truck and/or trailer and your Oregon sticker on you quad. I know one guy that has been done in this way at Tahuya this year. He tried to fight it in court too and it cost him close to a $1000 and there was no lawyer involved.
So make it a dunes only quad and you're set!
I would not count on that either.
If I was buying a dunes only quad, I would do it in a heart beat!

That sounds like HOW i felt after my single OP.........I don't know how Larry was able to get up and around so quickly. It took me 4 weeks just to be able to stand up straight..........
Glad I was 19 when I had mine!
