Ok, so this person contacted me and wants to trade THIS for the 39 Dodge pick up. Bad: he wants me to kick in cash. Good: Maybe easier to sell - the Dodge is turning into an (fly on) albatross.....

WTF is something like this worth? Swap meets are heating up - should I drag the Dodge to one of those? I want to sell it - the money would help pay for some repairs needed on the PU (some seals overlooked, etc.)

Whadaya think?
That thing looks cool, but it looks like a custom built. Hard to judge what it is worth.
What's the Dodge p/u worth? Have you listed it on Fleabay? Had a friend that sold several classic car bodies on Fleabay for good money with the buyers responsible for pickup/transport. He also makes good money at the swap meet, too though. Depends on how bad you gotta get rid of the Dodge. Not much help...Sorry
Not sure what the Dodge is worth. This is the linky 39 Dodge I've been told it has good bones but is rusty because it's been outside. I haven't try Fleabay, but maybe? This sucker was NOT my idea but whatever........I'm 1000 sunk into it and would like that much after expenses - breakeven is good
Here's my take on selling projects. You will never get out of them what you put into it. Selling a project in the condition that the dodge is in is very difficult unless it is a HIGHLY desireable year/model and somebody happens to be looking for it. As for the bike, It's looks cool. If it runs as good as he says it's worth what he's asking. You do have to be Careful with choppers though, hacking on frames is serious bidness and if it's not done right it can be a deathtrap. Even ones that are done well are definitely not for everyone. Choppers can be uncomfortable especially rigid framed ones. Personally I would take it, rip those mufflers off, wrap the pipes, paint the whole thing flat black and ride the dog snot out of it.

that is a giant headache in the making. It might run good right now.....but it is old.....it'll bite when you turn yer back

just my .02
I don't know, BSA is a pretty solid motor, although if it does go down it'll go down hard and parts for a british company that went out of business 30 years ago is gonna be a beeatch. I got's sources though if you do decide to get it.

I say it all depend on the guy wanting to buy it... meet up with him and then make your decision My Dad has built Hot Rods for 40 years. Looking at the guy's bike he may be into the same thing and just looking for a new project. I'll never forget my dad paying 4000 for 1933 Oldsmobile, it was a rusted up piece of crap and after 2 years and 25,000 smackers he sold it for 79,000 If it is something like this he will probably pay whatever he can for it. Stuff like your dodge can be hard to find.

And MB I am surprised at you... you of all people should now sometimes older machines run better than anything out there on the market today

Bring your rancher to the dunes then. Rancher's not made for the dunes? That's about the same as a rancher beating a sporty on the trails.

The good thing about british bikes is they are very simple mechanically, and can kept running pretty easily, but be ready for big oil spots in the garage.

You know I can't do that stuff 58 MPH is the fastest I can ever go I do like Wild's 660 at the dunes though, it's alot o fun Trails are all about the rider, dunes are all about the horsepower and I am seriously lacking in HP

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with ya there partner. If you are drag racing maybe if you are hill climbing not as much but for jumping and dune trails, my 400ex with 20 something horsepower smoked my friend's Banshee and Lt-450. OK OK but i really did out jump them.

Thank you for your input - I'm trying to get my life back to where it's manageable for me so I don't have to depend on anyone else. Sometimes I am REALLY REALLY REALLY sad that I sold my paid-for impala and cutlass (which where manageable) for a buncha shiz for other people that was overwhelming for me. I am ultimately responsible for my own bad decisions and am trying to avoid any more COSTLY crap. I don't HAVE to sell the dodge, but the behemoth is coming home soon (FINALLY) and I'm trying to make room.

If you know anyone who is interested in something like the dodge (it is pretty complete other than engine/tranny/driveline....I think) pass the word along. I'm being contacted by people who want just one or two parts, but I don't want to go down that road........
