Old Guy???????????????????? Bahahahahahahahaha
I was being sarcastic to the kid that said we were all old here in PSAR You are my elder and I will always respect you Hap But I will still smoke you on a Rancher
Bring your rancher to the dunes then. Rancher's not made for the dunes? That's about the same as a rancher beating a sporty on the trails.
You know I can't do that stuff 58 MPH is the fastest I can ever go I do like Wild's 660 at the dunes though, it's alot o fun Trails are all about the rider, dunes are all about the horsepower and I am seriously lacking in HP
I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with ya there partner. If you are drag racing maybe if you are hill climbing not as much but for jumping and dune trails, my 400ex with 20 something horsepower smoked my friend's Banshee and Lt-450. OK OK but i really did out jump them.
You didn't really disagree with me I am a newbi at the dunes I have been to florence one time... I had a blast on the 660 I rode my Rancher for 1 day and it sucked monkey *****. As far as jumping ride my 600lb quad and I will ride your 400ex and we will see the differance The Dunes is all about the quad, the is really no way around it. My quad kinda sucks so the dunes suck to me. The trails is my playground

you are wrong - whatever your riding, it is the synergy of the rider, the quad, the conditions....... You want to say that its all skill where you rock and all quad where you don't - we will all call bravo sierra there

You do great on the trails where you practice a lot - you know the conditions, your quad and you have reasonable skill .

Now give others their due where they excell! Don't be a hypocrite They have skills too - its NOT all quad - I've watched a skilled rider make tree shots on a beginner quad that doesn't have half your power and he didn't need 4wd either

Besides I don't see you saying "well, he has only been on a trail one time and has a sporty.." when you are bragging about winching whoever out.

Can't we all just get along? Good grief and good night
Snappy, I was just stating my opinon. didn't realize that we were not getting along

Sean has no problem with big jumps on his ute
Neither do I. A Ute is not going to out jump a sporty rider of equal skill is all i am saying

perfect answer to this is the brand new 250ex
You should get a 400(pick your flavor. It's a good middle of the road, all around size for a quad that will give you enough power to ride trails and dunes. The more you ride, the better you get, you will likely wish you had forked out the little extra for the little extra power of the 400 up front. JMHO.
I'll have to agree w/ J on this one I also started out on a UTE & rode my hubby's 400 once in awhile & raced our blaster, well I got my 300ex & was SOOOOOOOO happy for about a year haha but still stayed w/ that for a couple more years till I finally got fed up w/ not enough power & we went & got Ron his 450 & I got the 400 I would tell any new riders now to START w/ a 400cc quad The 250ex are nice but mucho underpowered but still fun little quads on the trail ect. SHOULD OF BOUGHT THAT 300 I HAD

And MB I am surprised at you... you of all people should now sometimes older machines run better than anything out there on the market today
I hope you are surprised by me. When I work on something, and sell / trade it, I know 100% that that machine is safe if operated correctly. Just like Rex said, some chop jobs are sketchy at very best, and the availability of parts. We are not talking about tinker toys and legos (Ford and Chevy's) we are talking about having a friend, on a hardtail chopper, that we know nothing of the builder.

As that machine is right now, I would test ride it, then park it on some bar stools in the garage majal and strip it down. Send the frame to the blasters and inspect the frame for deficiancies. After the frame was 100% tip top lolly pop, I'd choose a new color, and a Yamaha XS650 bullet to scoot me down the road. (parts are everywhere)

Old school is cool, if it is SAFE, and one can FIND PARTS for the contraption.
