For any of you people looking at the Kodiak, or anything else in that size, check with your insurance agent first. Allstate will NOT cover the truck. I am having to go out and try to find a company that will. They call it commercial, so that personal policies can not handle it. That means that I will have to have 2 policies or change everything over to a new place. Progressive quoted almost 3 times what I was paying on my old truck, which BLOWS, I have a perfect record.

Why not try the new F450? It should insure as a regular pickup.
Because its a Ford and a piece of CHIT. I have one at work and it sucks

Well said Jay, I fell bad for all of the family and your mom. Sounds like she was close to Spencer. It's great how kids can become such good friends to folks like your mom, they kinda become like adopted grandkids.

Boy you can't blame Grandma for being worried can ya.
I'm sure she's like all Gramma's, the grandkids are the world to them I think. Little Jakie is a great and cute lil kid, and the twinkle in Gram's eye I'm sure.

Again, I fall back to my job. A lot of calls are bad, but kids calls are the worst. Period......
I've seen way more than my share of kids killed.
So on one hand I am way over protective, but on the other hand look at what I let my kids do.....RACE

This sport is dangerous, no doubt about it. Look at the 12 y/o killed at Horn Rapids a week or so ago.
It's dangerous letting them get on the school bus, it's dangerous letting them go to the mall, it's dangerous putting them in anybody's car.
My thought is to let them be kids and let them do the things kids like to do, what makes them happy.
Especially when it involves things that bonds the family, teaches them many facets of life, shows them that hard work pays off, teaches them there are bad days and good days and that you can get over the bad days and cherish the good ones, allows them to make many great friends, installs confidence, etc. etc. etc.
Whether it's racing or just riding, this sport has many positive facets and life enriching lessons. I won't go into all of them, because all of you are fully aware of how great this "sport" is and what it does.
But I could say (as you could to I'm sure), if god forbid something were to happen to my wife or I, or any of our kids.........................
We, or they, could look back and see what this sport has done for us as a family and individually, and know that we had great time together and grew immensley, all the while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We have all said this before many times, but this is a great group of people on this site. There have been many many many great times, great memories, lessons learned, numerous acts of human kindness, and so on and so on. If any of us were to walk away from this group or sport, none of those things would ever be forgotten.

Tragedies like this are just another reminder for us to take full advantage, every day, of what we are so privelaged to have........
Health, family, friends and............LIFE...........

Good Luck Spencer
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and great friends........
Thank You for the reminder to love our kids each and every day

Good morning PSAR!

Did I ever mention how my kids did at the MESA Day competition? They kicked booty. Between 14 kids, 12 of them won 16 medals or ribbons. This is a self-esteem builder, but they have to actually perform to win something, which I like. So, although they tried, 2 of my kids got skunked. All of the kids were pumped by the end of the day and ready to work harder for next year.

My 9th graders took ribbons in SAT math, SAT verbal, and high school speech, they took 1st and 2nd in the brain competition (make a labeled model, explain it, then answer 5 random questions from a list of 26 about the brain.) Not bad for freshman! My 8th graders nailed middle school speech, middle school math, and kicked booty in the craftstick bridge competition (2 medals) One 8th grader- her bridge held 675 pounds!!! Way more than the competition-she had a great design. I know none of the kids cheated because I watched them in class. In fact, I was worried because they seemed very loosey-goosey about things, but they rocked. Next year, we might even practice a little for the SAT competition

btw, Michael (a 9th grader) took 2nd in the SAT math competition

Have a good day PSAR!
