With the power steering there's no need for a steering dampner, jolts get sucked up in the unit and don't transfer to the bars. Bigger tires have no effect nor any extra effort for steering, even locked in 4x4.
Looking at Maxxis Bighorns and ITP Mudlite XTRs, just working out the wheel and tire sizes, the ones I want would put me at 49 -50", so I might have to compromise.

I really, really like and recommend the Mudlites. They aren't massively heavy(for a huge tire anyway)and they have traction that will haul you through anything without any trouble. At least that I have found. JMHO.
