Ok, my craptor is giving me problems:
I have the battery on a float charger and while trying to start the quad, the positive terminal is very hot, melting the red rubber covering.
It's not starting with choke at all, then finally starts with throttle and runs like it's starving for fuel then dies.
Is it time to clean out the carbs? I don't have a clue on the battery terminal getting hot.</end quote></div>
Darn Yamahas!
Probably is gummed up carbs.
You're not trying to start it with the float charger on it are you?

Pulled the plug, it was gas wet and black, put a new one in and tired to start again, but it did start, barrels probably flooded out right now. Will try again with new plug in a couple of hours.

Did you try cleaning the battery terminals? Low voltage can cause the terminal heating due to high resistance. It could also do funny things to the ignition and timing.
The connection between the wire and the wire end crimped to it often gets corroded as well as between the wire end and the battery terminal.
If the bore is really wet with gas it sometimes helps to shoot a quick spray of WD-40 in thru the plug hole. Lubes the cylinder and brings the compression back up as well as preventing scoring of the cylinder wall.
