Make SURE if you are under the age of 16yrs old, that you posses a VALID ORV safety certificate and are under visual supervision of an adult when your riding @ SL.

Im a certified Michigan ATV Safety instructor and you will not be allowed into SL without the above if your under 16.I just thought I might share that with you just incase you were one of the underage [16] yr olds?I dont want to see anyone have to drive a long distance just to be shuned away.

I was there over labor day weekend. There's no water on the dragstrip and the sand is pretty dry.
There's a few water holes down by the beach but I think those are always there
Last weekend was also my first time there, let me tell ya, it's a blast!! Well worth the PITA that is dealing with vouchers.
You should be OK with stock tires, I used the stockers put on backwards on my Kodiak and it did better than I expected (especially with the 110 octane go juice) It took me a few times to find the perfect spot to let off the throttle on test hill, but that's the fun.

Man, I'm ready to go back already!

Well, in Michigan they have a law that you have to be 16 to ride a quad and if you're younger you have to take an ORV class and get certified, I believe but I'm sure Muddy4Life will be able to explain the law better. I'd say it's an ATV course that shows you how to ride safely and what the laws are...kind of like a hunters safety course. If I were you, I'd call the DNR post up at Silver Lake and get more info. Seems like a pretty big quad for a boy your age, but times have changed since I was your age. LOL

Speedy,
you can forget all about getting into SL without a valid ORV safety certificate if you or anybody else are under the age of 16yrs old.In Michigan,it is ILLEGAL to operate any ATV or ORV without possing a VALID ORV Safety certificate.SL personel WILL CHECK to see if you have your safety certificate, this I can promise you.You will NOT be able to ride without showing your certificate.

MINDI is correct, the safety course is a lesson in Michigan ORV laws and also provides ''hands on''training for the safe and responsable use of ATVs.The safety course is administered by State certified instructors like myself and are generally done on wk ends?

For further info, you can e-mail me at haynez2@aol.com

You dont need this certification in Indiana, thats why its not taught there YET.Indiana is one of the very few States that dont require certification, but beleive me,they ALL will SOON be required to take a safety course.Over 40% of NATIONWIDE injuries on ATVs that require a hospital visit are happening to those youth UNDER the age of 16,this is NOT GOOD for you guys.

Thats why manditory certifcation will SOON follow suit in EVERY ATV State.

Trust me on this one!
