Default Where to ride in So. Cal.

I live in Fontana and want to go riding on Sunday. I've been to Hungry Valley,Pinnacles,Crab Flats,Glenn Helen. I would like to try some other spots. Not sure whether to go the Wildomar, Stoddard Valley, Baldy Mesa. My wife and I like long trails that has some nice scenery but where we can open up our quads a bit. Also a few places to do jumps would also be fun. Don't want to drive to far and don't want to be in the middle of the desert some green would be nice. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Bear Down!

Advance-Let us know how Ocotillo was. Temps should be in the low 90's. I am interested whether it got all washed out by summer thunderstorms.

Bear-If you want green, it is going to have to be the mountains!

I-10 east to Indio. South on 86s to 78, go west on 78 untill you come to Split mountain rd on your left.

There is a restaurant there and a guy that rents quads on the corner.

Some Ocotillo Maps-

The best camping is at the "Cove". From there you can run up the canyon to the west and over to Blow Sand Hill.

Bear Down, you may want to try an area right of the I-15 between Victorville and Barstow. Take the "Dale Evans" exit off the I-15, turn right, then make an almost immediate left into a large dirt staging area. You will most likely see lots of other off roaders there. (In fact we will most likely be there on Sunday as well.) The riding area is pretty large. There are lots of trails for all levels of riders and on some of them you can catch some air. There is also a power line road that may even go as far as Barstow. I've been down it about 1-2 miles, and in that distance you go up and down hills and into another valley with lots of trails going off in almost every direction. As far as greenery, it's desert scrub, all hard packed trails, no sand or dunes. I like the area as it has places to ride for all levels, and since all you have to do is keep the I-15 in sight, or at least get it back into your sight, then you won't get lost. From Fontana it will take you about 45 minutes to get there at about 65 - 70 mph with toys in tow. The Dale Evans exit is no more than about 10 miles outside of Victorville.

Actually that sounds great. I was thinking of going to Stoddard Valley but this seems a lot closer. Thanks for the heads up!!
