Default VIRGINIA RIDERS,,,,

Hey everyone, I'm Dave from Sterling. I'm looking for people/places to ride. Preferably within 3-4 hours driving time. I know about Tasker's Gap, Tomahawk, South Peddler, Harrisonburg, all the places listed on the net. Does anyone out there know of decent trails? Please respond. Dave

Riding in and around Virginia is an exercise in frustration. The closest place to Sterling (that I know about) is Tasker's Gap in Edinburg. I rode there today on my WR250f, and I would have been better off riding a snowmobile. Sometimes I think about giving up off road riding because of the lack of decent riding areas close by, but I guess ya have to pay to play. It sucks driving 3 hours round trip for a 2 hour ride. If anyone has any other places, please share them with the rest of us. L8R. Dave

Guys, see http://forpwc.home.comcast.net for the Family Off Road Riders of Prince William County (FORPWC). This club has land to ride on, for members. Hope this helps.

I hear there is 125 miles of trails to ride in Gore, Virginia...which is near Winchester

I have a group I started riding with that take trails starting near Dulles Town center and make it all the way to Arcola and Gilberts Corner.

The Cove has more like 15 – 25 miles of rideable trails (it did a year ago anyway). I was involved with mapping much of the initial riding area but trail making was a work in progress while I was there and it was still going on after I last visited. They certainly don’t have 125 miles but they are probably over 25 by now. Not all trails / roads are open for riding there, but there may be less restriction now because they don’t have the heavy influx of campers during this time of year (they are primarily a huge campground & recreation area). During the camping season they attempt to keep the riding away from the prime camper usage areas. There are trails that continue off of their property but these may not be legal to ride on. There have also been several Hare Scramble events held there and it is a rough course (a lot of rock). So if you like rocky trails, this is an interesting place…
