While I agree the Prairie 700 is a great machine!! Its definately OUT of its class there!!!!! Its 90% Rock Crawling and speeds are usually under 5mph!!! IRS machines like the Grizz, Sportsman, AC650 and Rincon far surpass the Prairie in those situations!!!! Ridden with them many times!!! Don't get the job done!! But then again, no vehicle does there without a winch lol!

Please forgive me if you think I always bash the prairie!! Thats not my intention!!! But people make way to much of a deal about the prairie because of how fast it is and not the true use of a utility 4x4 which is to travel difficult terrain!! I'm just saying the Kawi has its place I can't see where it excells that the other machines dont besides speed, but I can see where the IRS machines excel that it doesnt!!!! Honestly, if I didnt ride in the areas that I do, I would definately own a Prairie, cuz those things are incredibly fast to be a Utility!!! I almost want to take one to the local MX track and try a few doubles!!! Imagine that! LOL!

A good rider could do fine there with a Prairie, but ground clearance, smooth skid plate, and suspension travel can't be underestimated. That place is EXTREME. Especially the rock garden. If the prairie didn't have a locker on the front, forget it. That's the only thing that makes up somewhat for suspension travel and ground clearance.

its more rider then anything, i went there on a Z400 and hung in right along with the utilities i was with. I only got hung up once where i needed assistance. no I didnt do just easy trails or anything like that

tellico is the most awsome place (and extreem) there is around here. hattfiled McCoy has nothing like tellico had. it was a fun place, you see lots of truck carnage there too. its an awsome place to anyone to go to. Sport quads can make it, but if your a beginner and not that good, stick to a utility there.

Before I say what I am going to say, please dont take my post to be offensive!!! Since you live in NC, I am sure you frequen there more than I do!!! But to say that your z400 can make it through Tellico is the craziest thing I have ever heard!!!!! There is no way on this planet a z400 would ever attempt to climg Guardrail and Helicopter pad on #11!!! Most jeeps cant!! Slick rock is impossible on a 2wd atv!!! Rock Garden Top and bottom of lower 2, come on Rancor, there is no way possible!!!!!!!!! My Grizzly can't do it without winching!! Nor have I ever seen any quad do it for that matter!!! Trail #6, rock ledge impossible on a 2wd!!! I'm sorry but I have ridden there many many many times in my day and I will be the first to tell you there is no way on GODS GREEN EARTH, with 44 boggers would you ever EVERRRRRRR be able to go down those F3 and F4 trails!!!! I'm beginning to wonder if you have really ever ever been there!!! I have seen custom built hybrids with 72 inch water filled tires with 4 way steering that has to winch at the top of Bottom 2 and at slick rock!! Countless number of Hybrids with 44" all 4 wheels locked with motors pushing 500hp that just burn the rubber off of them and get absolutely no where!!!! IN fact, I have never ever been there when I didnt winch myself up the majority of the trails!!!! If you would like I can show you pictures of some UTILITY machines having to wench themselves up lower 2, look at the pics and tell me that your 2 wheel drive sport quad can do that!!!!!! Thats like saying a Honda Accord in stock condition could make it through the Rock Garden!!! Just not happening!!!! I have never even heard of a quad going down ever trail there without winching!!!!! I only know of a select few MAD BUILT hybrids that have done it!!!! The Polaris 700 twin, Grizzly660, AC650, P700, I dont care what you take!!!!!! YOUR NOT GOING TO MAKE IT WITHOUT WINCHING!!!!!!! IF YOU DID, please let me know and I will take the necessary steps to make sure that your picture and your quad is posted on every trail head marker and Posted on WWW.TELLICO4x4.COM!!!!! Please forgive me if I offended you, but some things can't be taken lightly while I am rolling my pants legs up cuz its gettin deep in here!!!!!! Frankly thats one of the most hilarious post's I have ever read!!!!!!! z400 and going down every trail at Tellico!!! I will be going up to Tellico very soon in the future!!! PLEASE, in fact I BEG YOU, in fact I WILL FEED YOU AND GIVE YOU A PLACE TO STAY, if you will be so kind as to guide me through #2, #11, #12 and #6&7. Maybe I can learn the lines you took and by me a Yamaha Breeze and CONQUER THE MOUNTAIN!!!! Please, give me a break!!!!!

Im sorry let me restate I went down all trails passible by ATV, the other ones your talking about with obsticals for trucks i didnt figure in. No ATV could ever make it over slick rock or anything (and winching isnt 4-wheeling) I mean, if I stick a wench on my Z400 I could go up a tree or the side of a building. Just about anything besides Mud, a 4x4 and a 2x4 can make the same. it just takes a little more effort on 2x4. but no, I didnt do any of the Obsticals, i did do just about ever trail leading up to them and such. i was hanging with 4x4's.

kawasaskirules:

Nags Head would rock on an ATV, but its all illegal to ride around here. Corova, about 45 min north of here atv's are allowed. Its awsome beach riding there. few dunes but your not really supposed to be on most of them. lots of trails, it probably has over 100 miles of unmarked trails. and its impossible to get lost because you just head east till you get to the beach. you should check into it.
