Alaska - Where's the hot spots???
Sounds like a plan, as long as you do your homework you will be a informed buyer and know what possible problems and solutions to be had. I have been reading about the Suzuki lineup on this site and hear alot of good things about it and maybe if the dealer or I should say the salesman lack of custumer service I would of been very happy with Vinson rather then a Eiger. I loved the King Quad as I owned it for 9 years and it did almost everything I required of it. There was some down sides like the front drums freezing overnite and the brakes wearing out after you just replaced them. I see this was changed on the Vinson as it has disc brakes all around and the Eiger does not, still drum in the rear. Maybe I caught the salesman on a bad day, but when you work in retail and work on commision, you better keep those days few. As for the not stocked parts being had it was a blessing in disquise, turns out that Alaska Bearing over on International Road has in stock the bearings and seals now for alot less{ I got seals and beaings including the differential bearing and seal for the cost of one bearing at Suzuki} so kep that in mind if you ever need to do that kind of work on your quad. Did you think on the idea of upgrading the tires and wheels?AlaskaBoy.

Yes I've thought of upgrading the tires and I probably will not do this until the factory ones wear down. I know it makes a difference but I can't see spending more money after forking out a truckload for the ATV itself. The only extra thing that I probably will get is a winch. I also have to get a helmet. I'll tell you, all this adds up quick and I'm not getting all the extras.

They always promotions going on were the winch 50 to 80 dollars, what they don't tell you is that they are going to charge 100 to 150 to install. If you know how or know somebody to do it only takes an hour or two to do. I know the price adds up quick but if you look at it at this standpoint were how long do you plan on keeping it, like my old King Quad I had it for 9 years and paid 5100 for it but then added a winch later for 350 plus 150 for the winch bumper and 250 for tires which added up to around lets say 6000 it is about 650 to 675 a year to own it, I figure that way to put it in perspective. I paid 6700 out the door for my kodiak with everything I added to my last one so now I do not have to do it later for more. Sometimes you can find a leftover model year and pick it up for a song, I wanted the 2003 Kodiak 400 they had for 5200 but did not like the fact that it only had a high gear range and drum brakes in the rear. So I paid more for something I feel that will last me another 9 to 10 years and do what I require of it. Have fun kicking tires and if you stop by the dealer enough and look at the Vinson and tell them you like it but the price is alittle higher then what you want to pay for it they might cave and throw some extras in for free to land the deal, doesn't hurt to try. Alaska - Where's the hot spots???
Hello neighbors, new to this board. Just bought an 03 Vinson leftover at CC Suzuki in Wassila. Had it out this week at Knik. It ran great on the packed trails, but if you went into the deep snow you got stuck. My friend has a 360 Prarie, I had to pull him out twice.
Alaskaboy, do you know anyone seeling a Kingquad? I want to pick up one for my wife.
Thanks
Doug
By the way, AF stationed at Elmendorf.

I don't know but I'm instrested in learning where all the trails are here in Alaska so when I buy my Vinson in the next few months I'll know where to go.
So how do you like your new Vinson? Can't wait to get mine. If you don't mind me asking what did you get yours for?

Alaska - Where's the hot spots???
Welcome Snug, to the forum.
I just sold mine a couple of months ago but I do know of a Quad Runner 250 that might still be for sale. It is my buddys and he wanted awhile back to sell it. It is a 87 in great condition. If you want more info I can get some.
I was out to Jim Creek on Saturday to check on the house my brother-n-law is building and the river bed was snow free but covered in ice and water, almost slipped off the road on the Old Glen as I approached the bridge, gust of wind caught the side of my Expedition and I slid on the ice. Then I got a flat. Great trip to keep the nerves in shape.
Glad to here you are still out there Outrage, have not heard from you in awhile. I have seen some great info on the Vinson and if you can get a good deal it will be a great bike, after you buy it maybe we can hook up and go riding.
For the Alaskan boys, I am searching for a 4 place trailer or a enclosed 4 place for a good price, time to think about getting a bigger trailer as I am adding another quad come spring and my truck only seats 3 and I have 4 people. Tried to buy a extended cab Dodoge last week and got approved but the payment and insurance was going to run 500 bucks a month. I have not had a truck payment in about 8 years and I was quite shocked over the monthly payment. So my wife says to just buy a bigger trailer and we will pull it with the Expedition. I have seen some new ones running for 3 grand for the flat trailer and 6 for the enclosed and that sounds better then 20 grand in my book. So if any body has heard of one send me a note. Thanks, AlaskaBoy.

I love my Vinson. It was a dealer demo. I bought it with 600 miles(new.) It had the 2.5 warn and a 4yr warr with it. I paid 5k OTD. I was looking at the Eiger too. I could've gotten a new 03 for 4,600, but liked the looks of the Vinson, and the extra 100cc.
Alaskaboy, we went out off the Old Glenn Friday. Not really sure where we were, but we rode some trails in the woods, and along the river. What size trailer to you have now? Once I get a 2nd quad, I will need something for 2. Mine is a single right now.
What does your friend want for the 87.
