Has anyone checked into riding on Timber Co. property in any state. I was thinking of trying to find info about the different Timber Co.'s in the WV area and get premission to ride. Any ideas?

It would be practical use of the land until someone ran into one of the timber trucks resulting in a lawsuit against the timber company.

It only takes one person to ruin a party (this is not directed at you, rather to the lawsuit junkies). Your approach is right, however, I don't see you being successful in your plea. Some things are better left unspoken. If it were I, I would probably ride the area until told to leave. I know this is somewhat of a juvenile approach, but better than being denied and not riding the area at all .

I had to edit this to add more, see below please.

I never really answered your direct question. You wanted ideas on how to approach the companies I think. Make them an offer they couldn't resist. I have no earthly idea what would need to be offered, but if you can figure it out, more to you. You see, not many people give free rides anymore. Everyone is out for something to their advantage. I don't know; tell them you'll clean their truck every night. Maybe that would be the ticket. You can't just go into these companies wanting something and having nothing to offer in return.

Here in Pa., some timber companies have an agreement with the Game Commission whereby hunting is permitted on their property and the wardens are authorized to police the land. E.G., NO atv's and snowmobiles. This really sucks, because for years we rode timber property adjacent to my in-laws. $200 is the normal fine....
I would be sure it is permissable to ride any timber tract in advance, lest your wallet pay the price.

Same goes for Consolidated Paper Co. (or whatever they're called now) in Northern Wisconsin. Hunting is allowed but no snowmobiles or atvs. I emailed them asking why atv's were not allowed and their response was because someone would end up hurting themselves on their land and suing.
