"The Pits" is an authorized riding area for us off roaders. The owner allows it and even lets heavy equipment back there to make jumps and stuff. If you found "The Pits" you can ride there for sure. Maybe the posted thing was for hunters.

 

Thanks twostroke...let me know the next time anyone heads out, I'll leave my panties at home. I thought the place off I-95 (N. of DC) was called the pits. Is this place off 301 the correct "pits?"

Hey, i was looking for some forums and found you guys talking bout places to ride. Ive been riding in southern maryland for about 2 years now. I live in a town called baden which is about no more thrn 10 miles away from the pits you guys are talking about. I know of 2 pits each of which are not legal places to ride but you can ride there without getting hassled at all. There is a pit behind wilmers park which is currently owned by a company who is getting gravel out of it on the weekdays, and you should only be out there on sundays. The other is a pit which has been the place where me, my family and tons of friends ride. This place is secret just becuase we dont want people there we dont know and if it gets too crowed it wont be fun, and cops will definatly come at us. We spend about 6+ hours every sunday there if its good weather and you can get to almost any pit in the area through trails from here. These pits you guys are talkin about are gravel pits and dont refer to the as "The Pits" just bothers me. There are lots of them and they are just used so people can make money off the gravel there. If not that they are for subdivisions like one in fort washington i have gone to. I hope you guys find good places to ride. These places you talk about, can you send directions to laxdfender89@msn.com please. Id love to find new places to ride. Please make them be public riding spots, and a place for lots of speed whether in trails or in a gravel pit with jump or a track. Kinda cool people are talkin about places i go to all the time.

 

im trying to get some people to ride on saturday, its supposed to be cold though, i guess friday we can decide on a place to meet, come out if you can

Dave, I'm all squared away for Saturday, we just need to figure out a good time. Like you said we can iron things out on Friday, maybe the wx will give us a better indication then.

 

Z400rider, do you ride with the speedball guys? What kind of trips do you all do? I've seen their website, we won't mind if you pass along some of your riding spots.
