From Norman, don't waste your time going to Kermit. Little Sahara is bigger and closer if you want sand. You should definitely check out Lake Murray. I always have fun there and the state is now making improvements and they have showers/restrooms. You could also go to Muenster, which is just West of Gainesville.
I've seen a sign on I-35 for an ATV Park somewhere between Paul's Valley and Davis. Don't know what it is but it would be close for you. There is also RedRiverATV.com. It would be a couple of hours for you to get there, but they have some good riding. No comparison to Murray, though.

I live right outside of Davis and have been to the ATV park thats close to here. $5 to ride, and pretty much just a guy took his farm land and made it open for people to ride, he has a track out there, but pretty much all I've seen on it are dirtbikes. Good to go once at least just to ride around but I wouldnt go back. We've been to LS a couple times, and we're looking to try out the Kermit dunes, always good for a change

I just moved from Dallas but never made it to Kermit. I've seen some pictures and posts from people who go there, but it was going to be a 7 hour drive from Plano and I could get to LS in about 5.5. Change is good though. I wish I could have checked out Kermit before moving further away. There is no sand around here in NC, so I'm going through withdrawal.
