I went out riding today in the redlands and was ticketed for riding my quad. They are cracking down on all the local riding spots. Something needs to get done here. I saw about 30 riders get tickets and 1 get taken off to jail. there is no where left to ride down here.

That's what was so aggrevating. We could of been out causing trouble. We could of all out ran the cops very easily as we were all riding sport quads that are all have from slight modifications to very fast shees, raptor and so on. I had one of the slower bikes in the group and am without a doubt sure that we could have all out ran those heavy trucks they were driving. Hopefully someone will soon realize that South Florida is in need of an OHV park and put one up. Only time will tell. all that I know is that from now on I will be visiting fiends in other parts of the state to go riding with to avoid any more tickets by cops that could spend there time being more productive by chasing after real criminals.

Welcome to the future guys... You see, I have already lived this nightmare at least twice. First it was snowmobiles, then it was dirt bikes... I think you have the answer above, but it is going to take a little effort on your part. First, why do you think they close your favorite areas... sure urban sprawl is part of it.. but I'll bet a monkey's butt that the real issue is the locals are behind it.. and when the locals complain to government officials, and the law, you lose.

There are ways to combat that, and get what you want... First you need to organize into a riding group or club whatever... You need to form a consolidated block of registered voters, and you need to convince the authorities that you are not out to rape the women and tear up the daiseys around little old ladies yards. In short, you have to prove you are responsible individuals who deserve their time. You need to get involved with the local areas and organize events that show the locals that you can be trusted and that you are something good to have around.. and when you see someone act out, you need to get on their case and explain to them that you are fighting a battle... and let there be no mistake, you are fighting a losing battle.

The bottom line is, you have to live in their world, and play the game by their rules to win this battle.. otherwise, you will be selling the machines because you have no where to ride them... or you will have to travel long distances to find a riding park and pay to play. Get used to it... we call it progress.

Late in 1997 the popular riding area know as "Tower City" was closed by the owner due to vandalism and total disrespect for the property. All appeared lost until several concerned riders refused to give up, and contacted the owner. Out of the fruits of their labor, the Tower City Trail Riders were formed. In our first year with the owner's dedication and cooperation, we accomplished the feat of converting an area off limits to all, into a Family Oriented off-road paradise!! In our second year we added several new trails, as well as sanitary facilities. As we enter the new millennium, riding opportunities in most areas are becoming more and more limited due to land closure and development as well as "environmental concerns". In September of 2000, the club was relocated to a new area off of Bear Valley Road. New roads were built, a new camping area was opened, and new trails were marked and mapped. A "kids trail" and a "kids play area" has been constructed to help young riders learn and enjoy the sport in a controlled area. The future looks bright with the continuing hard work of all the volunteer staff and member support. In addition, the landowner continues to assist our efforts to improve the club in many ways. His support has made our work proceed more easily, and we are grateful to have it.

Won't you come and join us and enjoy some of the finest riding anywhere?
