My reservations are for June 18 & 19, leaving on the 20th (Father's day weekend). That's IF my son, whose coming home on leave this weekend, doesn't change the plans. So far, it's ok.

Where is Clovis, CA anyway?

Sounds good! I sure hope we can go . . . my son's girlfriend is already screwing up our river plans for the weekend before that. Aaagh, sometimes I'd like to bat them upside the head!

I'll have to look up Visalia on Mapquest - I don't know where that is either, but it sounds more familiar than Clovis . . . ha ha! Anything north of the 91 fwy, I don't know where the heck I am.

Clovis is 0 (Zero) miles to the N/E of Fresno. They share a common border. Please tell me you've at least heard of Fresno.

It's about 4 or 5 hours from Corona. Can't remember. Been about 9 years since I was down that way visiting a relative in Norco. Just about smack dab in the middle of the state. South of Yosemite. (1 hr. to the 41 gate, and 2 hrs to the Valley floor.) East inland from Monterey. 120 miles north of Bakersfield.

Ohhh, way up there! Yeah, I know where Fresno is . . . as a matter of fact, my husband is working near there at NAS Lemoore this week. How nice to be so close to Yosemite - I haven't been up that way in ages.

We live right on the Corona/Norco border.

I thought Clovis was a hick town till I went to Norco. Hitching posts in the parks, and livestock (goats and horses) at houses in the middle of town. Not that I have anything against "hick towns." Hell, I love my hick town.Just don't tell anyone that there are actually 80,000 people here now.

I was last up in Yosemite in the Fall. When the falls are trickles at best. But it was still cool to be up there again. Company I work for has a cabin about 15 minutes from the south gate. And about 5 minutes before that gate are some awesome technical ATV/MC trails.

Oh how funny! Thank goodness we're very lucky where we are (just behind the little Corona airport) - we don't get the cow smell there. Only early in the morning around once a month or so, if it's foggy outside, we can smell it. I don't know how the people who live right next to it can stand it! When we moved there a little over two years ago (always in Orange County before) we looked at some of those new places, but the cow fields were right across the street - it was horrible. I heard they were getting rid of all the dairies, but still, all that stuff is in the ground. Yeah, everywhere you go in Norco is all cowboys and horses.

I would love to ride in Yosemite - how beautiful it is there! I get a little tired of looking at "dirt & scrub brush" all the time . . . mountains and trees would be a nice change.

Legally, I don't think you can ride in Yosemite N.P. or any N.P. for that matter. But I've ridden in two places just outside the park (Miami Motorcycle Trails, Sierra N.F. and Groveland Ranger District, Stanislaus N.F.). One place we were just but a few hundred yards from an entrance (Little Nellie Falls).

The mountains are about the only close place you can ride around here w/o running into issues. Some of the N.F. are alittle more picky than others. Sierra N.F. (south of Yosemite, Madera & Fresno Counties) OHVs are restricted to Level 2 roads (marked with a veritical post). Stanislaus N.F. (West of Yosemite) from what I was told they don't care, as long as the road was open.

Nice fresh air. Beautiful scenery and 60 mile rides. Gotta love it.

I'd like to ride in the mountains nearby (Big Bear, etc.), but there isn't anyplace that sounds like we'd be able to get the RV back there.

We may go to El Mirage just for the day this Sunday (only 45 mins away from us), and the next weekend we're going to the river . . . we're bringing the ATV's, but it's supposed to be 107 degrees there so I don't know how much riding we'll be able to bear in that heat. I have a feeling we'll be on the jetskis more than the quads that weekend. Hoping to go to Pismo the weekend after that. My son is coming home tomorrow (yes!!) on leave from the military (stationed in Japan), and he's looking forward to getting some riding in while he's here.
