KFX400
#1
Has anyone else had a hard time keeping the parking brake adjusted on the KFX which is also the same as the Suzuki Z400.
I have adjusted it a couple of time but if you ride off and forget that it is on for a second it quickly needs adjustment again.
I have the repair manual and it says to adjust the brake until the distance down on the cable assembly where it attaches to the brakes is about two inches. It does not say if the parking brake should be on during the adjustment.
I have adjusted it two or three times and I am allmost out of adjustment already, and the machine only has a couple of hundred miles on it.
I also have a question on replacing the rear brake pads the manual tells you to flatten a lock washer and then loosen two pad mounting pins. And at the end of the repair when everything is all back toghther it tells you to flatten the lockwasher as the last step. When they say flatten the lockwasher during the removal are they telling you to make it so that the assembly will slide out of the caliper. They make it sound like they want you to flatten it before and after the pad change and that does not make a lot of sense.
Any help would be great.....

You might be getting more response to your question if you copy and paste it to the suzuki, or kawasaki forums. I am yet to look into the 400's brakes, so I'm sorry, that's the best advice I can offer. Aside from eliminating the parking brake alltogether.
