The trails are cut to narrow for a quad, nothing but 2 to 3 foot moguls, lucky to get out of second gear for more than 100 ft. I just rode the Bull gap trail system, taking off from the farthest south-east parking spot. It's all snowmobile trails, very fun, but a little rocky. I rode st. helen trails too, not bad, a little rough tho. I here that they do go through and knock down the moguls there twice a year.
well i guess u wont see me in gladwin anytime soon

Gladwin North loop is Still closed .... sterling truck trail ( north end ) is under WATER and construction !!!!

yes the DNR is very busy around those areas.....

Bull Gap is the your best bet for the money ........ lot s of trails .... routes to get you somewhere FAST and gas stops/resturant to fill up on

cant beat that for a days ride !!!!!

we ride the U.P. 2 a year ... we put on about 300 miles in 3 days ... we head out from Tequemenon Hotel and ride alll the way to Brimley casino !!!!

down to Trout lake ( cut river )_ and up to the falls ... great riding in the UP !!!

just got back from Big Bays a couple months ago,,,, that place ROCKS ( west of Marquette - a 8 hour drive for us )

I'm going to Drummond island next month !!!!

Has anyone rode the Pine Ridge or Two-Heart Trails in the UP? I am thinking of driving up from Va. to try and find some cooler weather for my vacation the first week of Aug. It will be 16 + hours and I want to find some place nice to ride and camp in the Travel Trailer. The Two Hearts area looks nice or do I want to look else where.

I will be leaving Friday July 30 after work or I might try and add a day to the vacation if I am going that far.

I rode this for my first quad trip with three buddies in the beggining of june this year. We all loved it there. It was a 4 hour trip for us, but well worth it. Mosquito's and black flies were horrible at that time but the motel owner said they clear up buy mid-july. We stayed in newberry and trailered to the trailhead every day, about a 25 min ride north. You can stay a little closer to the trails in Pine Stump junction, but there is only a bar/gas station and a little motel that makes up the town. If your camping though i would stay in that area. The u.p is quad rider friendly, probably just to create tourism, but you can ride the sides of the roads to get gas or food. The trails are the snowmobile trails in winter, so they're fast and wide. We took the two-heart trail two days in a row. You can look for trail cuts to the north that will take you right out onto Lake Superior about 1 hr. down from the parking spot. Very cool, and nobody around for miles. Although we did find out after that it is illegal to ride on the beaches, But it wasn't posted sooo?!! I also went to Seney one day and stopped at the bar (in my truck) and there were a lot of quads and bikes there. The dnr web site doesn't show a trail system there, but the people said the riding trails around there were great, maybe local trail maps avail. not sure. Hope this helps.

Hay thanks a lot. As long as the weather is nice I am going. The plan is to start out at Two Hearts and end the vacation at Drummond Island if time allows. I'm going to try and add a day or two to the week I have scheduled now.

I have a list of places in town that sell permits and the trail maps printed. :-)

I am camping in a 25' Travel Trailer at one of the ORV Camp Grounds hopefully there are sites available.
