Missouri people.....question on 2 locations to ride.
I live in Dent county where there are no trails to ride but I can ride on county maintained roads. Thats fun if you want to just go cruising around but I want to try some off road trails. I only have a utility ATV so I wont be needing any trails that are extremely rough or lots of mud.
I have been checking the the sites for Finger Lakes and St. Joe Park. St Joe is closer but Finger Lakes looks like it would be more for what I want out of a riding location. If you can let me know your opinions of each place and what is required as in equipment for the riders and your ATV that would be great. Also, can you ride double on ATV's in the state parks?

I think St. Joe is the better of the two (St. Joe vs. Finger Lakes). I have a Foreman 4x4 and the trails at St. Joe are great for it. Finger Lakes is too muddy and too many ruts, even for a 4x4. You'll need a winch for Finger Lakes and lots of patience. If you like trails and rocks, Chadwick is for you. At St. Joe, you can get on the sand flats and let 'er rip, but watch out for the little whoops. Since my Foreman rides like a brick, those aren't too fun for me.
You can't ride double at either St. Joe or F.L., unless you have an ATV made for double (like Arctic Cat or Bomb 2-up bikes). Good luck.

Pennyless...I go to St. Joe all the time and have not had the opportunity to see your Bubba bike run. I use to have a HPD race mod alky burning Sport but sold it to a buddy that also rides St. Joe alot. Bubba was suppose to come to St. Joe sometime this month but have not heard from him in awhile.

Fourtrax, I live close by in Rolla so I know your problem with travelling. My son and I have been to all, St. J, F.L. & Chadwick and agree with all the others. St. Joes offers all types of riding, as much or as little as you want. Chadwick is fun also, well marked trails and some very challenging areas. Finger Lakes is a mud pit that will drive you crazy, the mud has been described as "atomic mud" which is accurate because it sticks and gums up everything. We spend more time pulling each other (both 4x4's) out of mud pits, if you want to go get your fill of mud, its the place. I have heard of some places down by Cabool but I have no specifics. There are some local clubs that organize rides at different areas. I think we may try that to find new places in the area.
