FYI - the Sheriffs department has been busy this weekend in Anoka County tagging ditch riders.
Be advised that although we are past the October 1 ditch restriction for the agricultural zone - the 7 county Metro area
prohibits riding road right of ways anywhere in those counties - all year long. Zero - Zip - Nadda.

I saw what looked like two guys in handcuffs on Highway 65 near 220th street.

WhoDat, being from Stacy are you able to do any ditch ridin' up there? Somebody once told me that you could ride the ditches along say, 61 and 97 after a certain date. But judging from your post thats not true.

Inside the counties of Anoka Washington, Ramsey, Dakota, Hennepin, Carver and Scott - You cannot ride on land you do not own or have specific permission to ride on. Although thier may be a township or two that allow residents to operate ATV's on township roads with restrictions.

Outside of these 7 counties, other counties, cities and towns may further prohibit the operation of ATV's under their jurisdiction. Most counties are either considering ditch riding bans or have implemented full or spring time partial bans.

The two nearest Minnesota areas open to ATV riding are Nemadji and St.Croix State Forests. Each are about 100 miles from Hugo. (Hugo = Help Us Get Out) lol... Check the DNR OHV map Website at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/maps.html

With regulation now being enforced in layers of state, county and city/township its impossible for me to keep up with where you can ride. But I do make note of where you can't as I come across it. Best bet is to contact the county sheriffs office and get it direct. And write down the name of the person you talked with. It can help if there is a dispute.

The agricultural zone starts at Hwy 10 on the ND boarder and gotes to Hwy 23 to Hwy 95 to WI. All ditches are closed south of that line
April 1 to August 1 each year. I said October 1 in my first post - that was not correct.

Thx for the info. I live east of town with quick access to some country roads. It would be nice to go for a leisurely ride without getting hassled. Also, with winter coming it would also be nice to ride to the lake rather than load everything up. Its just something we just have to live with I guess

The way Hugo is growing Help Us Get Out is quickly becoming a reality. And if you are ever passing through, don't forget to pick up a Hugo Yacht Club T-shirt or sweatshirt.

My sympathies.

Here in Linwood we can legally ride snowmobiles and ATVs on the township roads to get between home and the lakes. Its likely the main reason we bought into this ATV equipment. But it won't last very long. The butt-heads doing 50mph down the centerline of the road with 3 on a quad will eventually ruin it for everyone. The end is near - its only a matter of time before we have another fatality and that will be the end of it.

I have 3 trailers and I know how to use them.
