Hello, new to this board and would like to introduce myself. My wife and I ride sportsman 500's (1998s)and like to ride and camp as we go or also camp at one location and ride out/in each day.. Last few trips to Utah and the Paiute, but alas not enough time this year.. Looking for good places in northern colorado, north of I70, west of the divide for some camping and riding. Have heard about some places in the Route NF and the White river NF(south of I70). Can anyone recommend any NF campgrounds in the area(s) or any other areas for us to consider. Thanks alot.

Hi gandalf. Welcome! My husband and I have been riding our ATV's for about 6 weeks all over the state of Colorado. You can find anything you're looking for here. My favorites are just up off of Vail Pass, but I hear there are several up around Fort Collins and up west of Boulder.

My recommendation to you would to buy one of the 4 wheel drive books for Colorado. That's what we did. They give you the difficulty ratings on the trails, length of trails and really good directions on how to find them. With that you can pick your area and have information about all the national forests, camping and trails open to motorized vehicles.

Wish I could give you more info. At least that's a start.

Have fun!

Linda
