Winter Riding near Buffalo, NY
#1
In case you were not aware, riding is permitted in Erie County's Chestnut Ridge Park in the winter, on the west side of the park. Requirements are state registration, insurance, and a free permit available from the EC Parks Dept. 2-3" of snow and it is open for riding. Of course they get a lot of snow out there, so when it gets deep you have to follow where sleds went. But there is so much sled riding at the park they mat down the snow pretty good in the whole park.
Little advice, on weekends the Sheriff's are around. So make sure you are legal. They usually aren't too happy about after market loud pipes. And have your ATV safety certificate with you or you will be cited. I was, although it was dropped at court when I proved I had one at the time. Just didn't have it with me.
