Oregon Dunes 93dB???
#1
The general sound limit in Oregon is 99dB, but at Oregon Dunes it is 93dB. How do you Oregonians deal with this???
We will be visiting some relatives in Oregon this summer, and I thought I might take the bikes along. I just spend a bunch of $$$ on quiet cores and rejets, to be sure all my bikes are below the California legal 96dB. Only way I could get down to 93 would be to change out mufflers (the FMF Q), and no way I am going to spend that kind of money and do all those rejets, just to ride a few days in Oregon.
Any suggestions???

If ya see the rangers, that do sound checks, just be cool, most of the time they will leave you alone. But if ya want the attention they will come and talk to ya........
Thats JMO and i have had NO problems what so ever........

I have been riding for 16 years with at least 25 days riding a year. I have been tested only 3 times and got 1 ticket with a sand rail. Last year I blew a 103 and the ranger said to stay away from the borders and sent us on our way!

If you meet the Calif 96 db limit I don't think you will have any problem at Oregon Dunes. Rangers are not very numerous and their main interest seems to be watching for out of boundry violations. On our last trip in Oct we rode 4 days and never saw one ranger. Also there are riders with obnoxiously loud 4-strokes probably breaking 120 db that will keep the rangers busy if any do show up.

Unless something has changed in the last 2 years, the limit is 93 +/3db, so a max of 96 is allowed.
Tickets are not as common as they used to be, but they DO still occur!

Are there sound regulations on buggies? We would also be bringing one of them.

Usually they let u go as long as you're under 99db's. Sometimes more. Rarely less and if they give u a ticket and u're under 99db's then he's prolly an a$$!! Don't worry about it. I have a HMF and u probably know how loud those are! Go to winchester if u like a challenge and barely ever any cops. It's my fav. Don't worry about not being able to make it because I have a 400ex with a few mods and it can make it up 90%+ of the hills that are challenging. It's the best place for hills if you've never heard that which is what everyone says.
