#1
me my brother, uncle and a bunch of my friends are planning a trip out to W. Virginia to the Hatfield McCoy trails. Any advice on where to stay, were probably gonna camp out in tents, what to bring(other than obvious trail essentials), and other stuff u guys that have ridden there would want to share

Make sure you check out the Browning Fork Trail - 100+ miles of easy to extreme riding. This is just one of the 5 systems Hatfield~McCoy offers. Most people think it is the best. It does have the most milage and variety of trails. Enjoy your trip.

Kawgurl,
Good advice on the website. My brother-in-law, and I, are heading down (he's from RI, and I am from Northern NY) in May. Looks like we will probably stay at the Colonial Inn. H-M trails look awesome! I cannot wait for vacation....

I've stayed in Logan County at the Devil's Ans (i'm not sure of the spelling) they were log cabins that could only be reached on the quads...it was very cool and cheap if you're splitting the cost....the trails are right down the same path you take to get to the cabins...you wouldn't regret it!

Vinsongurl,
Where did you park your vehicle? Also, which trail system were these cabins on? There are 5 different systems. Isn't Wolcott on Rte 8? I used to live in Naugatuck, and I recall that Wolcott was around Waterbury. Now I live in northern NY, very near the Canadian border.
Ketchicanman,
My father's cousin owns a 9 hole golf course in Colchester. I believe it is called Chanticlair. Is that anywhere near you? Years ago (1987), I used to work as a dock supervisor, for a trucking company in Franklin. Before that, I worked as an armed guard at Millstone Nuclear Powerplant. I think it is closed down now?

Hey, while you're down at Hatfield-McCoy, why don't you stop on over at Pinnacle Creek Riding area. It seperate from the H-M trails, but there is over 2200 acres of trails sytems there too. It's also home to the famous "stair-steps." There are several places you can stay, there is the Wagon Wheel, ATV Paradise, and Hilltop Escape, thees places have rooms with showers you can stay in, or since the trails are open to the public, you can just pitch a tent on side of the trail somewhere. For pictures and stuff of West Virginia, go to www.walltoowall.com and then go to galleries, all kinds of good ridin up there.
