Default Any riding places near Roanoke Virginia?

I'm going to be taking the wife and kids to see grandma. I might skip over to Hatfield McCoy for a day, but I was wondering if anyone knows of anyplace closer to Roanoke.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are a couple places to ride in the Washington and Jefferson National Forest near Roanoke.

Both are fun rides, but neither can be compared with Hatfield McCoy. But it is a heck of a lot closer.

Washington and Jefferson about 1:15 minutes North of Roanoke on I-85. Easy trip. We went for the first time last weekend. Take exit 175 at Natural Bridge. Go East on 130 through Glasgow. There are two ATV trail parking lots a few miles past Glasgow along the James River. They are marked with roadsigns. If you look on a map it's about a mile before the Blue Ridge Parkway on 130. We went there because you can ride ATV or dirtbikes on the same trails and we have both. Not bad, one looping trail around the perimeter is 11 miles long, inner trails a mile or less each. Some rocky areas, one short trail was loaded with roots but overall not bad, especially since it is so close to Roanoke. Best trail is the part of the main loop between the two parking lots.
