These are northeast of Desert Center, along Hwy. 177 (Rice Road). I believe these are probably called "Palen" Dunes, but I have never heard anybody refer to them by that name. Anyway, we are heading out there this weekend for a day ride. Can anybody tell me anything about it. From pictures, the dunes are pretty small. Looks like they might be ok for jumping or something for the kids to play on, but I don't think there will be any bowls to shoot. What is there in the vicinity to ride, besides the sand?
