There will be a long grade up Cajon Pass, on the 15. If you go as far as Bishop, there is a long hill on 395 from Bishop up to Mammoth.

We camped at Protagee Joe Campground in Lone Pine, then trailered our bikes out to Keeler to do the ride. You could camp out by Keeler, but it isn't very exciting at all out there. Another camping option is Olancha Dunes, but again you will have to trailer the bikes out to Keeler.

The Inyos are something you want to do before it gets to hot. The temps up on the ridge aren't to bad even in summer, but the valley where you have to camp and stage from, can get very hot.

When it is really hot, we camp up in the Mammoth area where it is much higher and much cooler.
