If Long Beach still exist after Katrina gets done, you might need your ride just to get around. Seriously, I moved away some years ago, but out Beatline road there are a couple of places to go to "The River". Most of the kids know about it. It's been so long I don't remember the name of the river, but I think it's the Wolf River. Anyway, here's a map of the area:

My parents bought me a Subaru Brat for graduation (class of '87), and a couple of friends and I took it out there... lots of fun trails and all kinds of stuff. That is if no one has closed the area off.
Man... that's 20 years ago. Now I'm all the way up in Virginia. Good luck with your search. Better yet, Good luck with Katrina.
