Ran into the State Police at Shady Beach (Tower Hill) today. He was parked at the entrance in a white plain truck. Was told I couldn't ride there, so I turned around & left. Just to let you all know.

Hey herb I havent been on in awhile saw that your trying to go to wv,i have been trying to get there myself,let me know if you want to get a trip up any time i am having trouble getting people to go mostly due to time off, iam looking to get a trip set up for some time in either late april or early may to HFM. email me off this thread ,i wouldnt mind going in november if thats too soon

That's a shame.....wonder if the developer called the police? I've came to the conclusion if your serious about riding you have to pack up & drive a few hours. I rode with the Frackville group this past Sunday, had a great time!

 

Its a shame we have to drive 3 hours to ride. I have been riding with the Frackville group for over 2 years now. Most of the time I go up the night before and get a room. I was doing the 3 hour drive up and ride 9 or 10 hours and then 3 hour drive home. But I guess I'm getting to old for that long of a day. I remember one long day over last winter when Megan was with us, we did 120 miles and didn't get back until 9 pm. Man was my D*ck in the dirt that day

 

Was the trooper at the Shady Beach Road in his uniform or was he off duty? I've never seen an unmarked white truck before. Did he chase you down or did you ride over to him? That really stinks, because I ride there pretty often and have never had a problem. Did you drive and park there or did you ride onto the trails? At least you didn't get a ticket or somethings stupid. Let me know so I don't end up getting arrested.

 

I entered in off the main entrance at shady beach road. I was riding my Dual sport (xr650l). I turned in & there he was at the entrance talking to a man. He had a winter state police coat on, and his truck was plain white with antenas. I talked to him for a second & left. I've never had a problem either till now.

I want to ride Frackville, but I rarely find the time to make that haul up there. I also don't like the idea of wasting a $100 tank of gas either.

 

You guys are depressing me about this move to Maryland. No places to ride????Im no stranger to driving 3 or more hours to ride, but that sucks. Guess I will have my work cut out for me when I get there.

Ill be back for a quick 10 day visit in Maryland to see the wife and kids on the 12th November. Not going to get any riding in then, just a visit.

Megan, did you ever make that trip out here to Oregon? If so, I hope you all had a great trip! Im going to the sand on Sunday, rain or shine I hope. Probably the dunes in Florence, Oregon or Winchester Bay.

Has anyone been there since this encounter with the police? There are two other spots to easily enter the trails. I ran into the superintendent of the job who told us that he rides also and is emphathetic to us wanting to ride. The problem he has are the loud pipes and three guys fron Delaware who have shown no courtesy towards the home owners who live on the fringes of the area. I have personally watched them come roaring out of land that is clearly marked no trespassing. There are plenty of trails there without having to encroach on the private land of those who live there. We rode trails off the tracks last weekend and had a blast and plan to ride the canal in Chesapeake City next weekend. I will see what I can find out about tower hill, but we have pretty much wore that place out.
