Hey everyone, i'm headed up to florence on the weekend of....the 14-16 for my first time and i was wondering what its like up there, i've been everywhere else on the dunes but there. I've heard alot about "Comp Hill" what exactly is it, is it a drag strip like boxcar, or more of a banshee hill type thing? Any info is helpful, thanks alot.

 

I love Florence. Has lots of open dunes with good size hills and lots of trails too. Comp hill is just a steep hill people like to drag race up. Boxcar has some hills that are similar. Honeyman is my favorite place to camp there, but is sometimes hard to get into.

 

thats where i stayed at, in campsite 352 i believe, its the first one on your left in H loop. it was awesome over there, but all the dunes had wash outs, and we managed to find quicksand! it was an awesome trip and awesome dunes, deff. making another trip in the summer

 

how is it there? is it flooded? how is it south of florence ?(reedsport) is it winchester bay?

 

I was at Winchester Bay this last weekend. The main parking lot is under a couple feet of water. Lots of good riding though. Spinreel was great too. There was a lake there that I have never see before!
