Sometimes I wonder if there are so few places to ride that people are just being secretive so as not to ruin their gig. I wouldn't blame them with the cops going after everyone they can find on a quad or three wheeler these days.

Hello, I was looking for some new spots to ride in NJ. I also got some great spots to ride in south jersey, and they are all connected so ya can hit em all and never worry about police or property owners comin after ya.
The spot i ride in mostly is a 20 acre pit and theres parking in the front, so ya can unload and ride to the pit behind.
Its a sand pit and they still mine it. The only time people really ride there is past 4 pm on weekdays and all day sat / sun. Its pretty agressive w/ some huge step ups ( the people who work the pit ride there so they make some mean jumps w/ the machinary) jumps galore, and some nice flat racing spots. The sand isnt like sugar sand and its packed in some spots and loose in others. Weekends everyone comes out to ride and it can get a little crowded but theres two other great riding spots that you can get to (people theres always help new comers get to the other pits) one is a blue hole and the other is track type area w/ doubles, triples, 7' high side banks and is pretty insane but great for all you mx'ers.

Damn Noise

You may be onto something with the noise issue because with development closing in on just about all of the open land in NJ there are not many places left to ride a loud machine and not have the adjoining neighbors hear you. I know a lot of the outcome depends on who the neighbors are and what there thoughts are about bikes and quads etc but if they dont hear you they wont be complaining to the police either.

I have a smaller area near my home that I use every so often, and even though its not super big its great for a short ride and working out any bugs or jetting etc. The problem lately has been that there are some other locals who have been using it that have extremely loud machines, and some of the neighbors are starting to complain.

I know stupid people do stupid things, but when you have something this nice so close its beyond stupid to mess it up by being too loud, rippin up and down the streets, purposely making ruts at the entrance, and all the other things that bring attention to this spot.

Its a shame so many dont think about the big picture and just get caught up in the fact they actually have a decent place to ride (understandable too), but when your lucky enough to have something right down the road with limited chance of having any problems (pretty much your only watching out while getting in etc) you really have to protect it and use your head.

There have been times I have tried to talk with some of the guys doing this, and most just didnt even realize it at all, but I hope this one litte place and all the others like dont get too hot because someone wasnt thinking.

You got that right!!

I cant even count all the people I know who have "secret" spots they wont bring anyone to except their personal known friends. It really suks, but I can understand their concerns too.

Maybe were all sort of quilty since I know I only share certain places with those I dont really know, and with all problems of having a decent and "safe" place you can see how it could become a popular spot for riding, and then very soon a popular spot for handing out tickets too.

I am going to check out the place in your map, but hope that there arent any enviro nuts or police doing the same.

Ill be there this sat and sun, come try it out! Its not like the spots everyone else is talking about (secret spots)
and ya dont gotta worry bout noise either. Every weekend you can be sure theres at least 10-20 other people riding w/ you, its more about fun and less about the competition. Although you can see some cool tricked out quads racing around.
If you need any other help/directions my e-mail is revolution-420@comcast.net

It sounds like a great spot with all the different types of terrain, and the changes by the guys who work there etc., but I seem to have a personal thing with "pits" because you kind of like a sitting duck for the guys with the ticket books, and there the only places I seem to have run into problems.

Still I think I know where it is and will check it out later in the week (by car since I am waiting for parts to come in for the quad).

Ive been riding here for bout 4 yrs and never saw a cop anywhere near the pit. Theres also bout 30 miles + of trails connecting everything, so no PIG will every catch ya. As far as I know everyone is allowed to ride here. I've met the owners of the pit riding there and they love the sport. The police wont come unless someone dies there I think >> Its a very popular spot for every type of off road activity. Trust me ! Its the BOMB, once you ride around here youll always come back (unless you know a even better spot, but i cant see how ). As far as noise goes ......the louder the better !!!

Can you pm me the link for the map again since I didnt save it, and it seems to have been edited out etc.

I was supposed to be near that area today, but it got postponed until next week, but I want to check it out (maybe even over the weekend though quad less since its not back together yet) as it sounds like a great spot, and also there may be a very good opportunity with the land owner for having actual legit riding events or races there too.

I know some people may not mind riding there etc (until it gets out of control, or someone gets hurt really bad and or sues, all things we need to try and keep from happening) but no one in their right mind would just give anyone at anytime a green light if they were a large group, unless they were somehow in control of themselves. I have actually talked with a couple owners of active operations (more general managers since many have been bought out by corp's) who have shown some interest in organized type events or even some sort of ride park (the parks being very diffilcult many times due to local regulations etc), and there are others who have been putting in a serious effort doing something just like this on an event only basis (check out alantic grand prix .com) and seem to be having lots of sucess/
