Default Grand Canyon?

Heading down to the Grand Canyon after riding the Paiute Trail in July. Where do we go for good riding and do they even allow riding down into the Canyon? What advice can you pass on to someone wanting to ride in this area? Please help. We will be there July 15-? Thanks.

I heard that too. If it doesn't involve an engine I don't do it.

You can't ride in the grand canyon, but you can ride by it. There is a cool place called Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. It's in the Arizona strip (about 70 miles south of St. George, Ut). I've been down there twice and it is great riding. However, it will be extremely hot in July. I guess if you ride in places next to the rim (that are legal), you will be in pines, and it should be cooler temp.

Do you have to make your bike street legal to ride in this area?

No, this is very remote. Look at this website http://www.blm.gov/az/parashant/parashant.htm

You do have to be street legal to ride in the Lake Mead National Recreation area or the GC National Park. These two areas border all of the lands right along the Grand Canyon. If you aren't street legal, there is plenty of riding in the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and BLM lands as Whitewater indicated.

I've been out there many times and street legal.
