Almond NY (south of rochester), ISO trails/riders
#1
Hey there,
I'm sure all the NY residents out there understand an sympathize with my dilemma. There are so few trails around it's frustrating. And NY won't open up any state land for off-roaders. Thirdly, I'm a fairly new homeowner who doesn't have the discretionary capital to buy 150 acres of recreational land....currently I have access to some land, but this is going up for sale soon and may no longer be available in the near future.
Are there any riders/landowners that know of some good spots....obviously not too far from my location (can haul my quad if needed). Although this is more for my own personal interest, I'm sure some of my riding buddies would love to hear about new riding territory as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks.

You're in an awesome place for riding! There are at least 2 parks probably within an hour of you and probably about 5 within two hours. I live in Rochester and have to make trips down that way to ride a lot of the time.

I just responded to your other post, but I forgot there is a place in Campbell, NY that is supposed to be pretty good also. I gotta get out and ride some more!

Thurston Hills MX in Campbell, Rocky Roost in Beaver Falls(I think) There is Pine Hills in Cohocton. I am sure there are more, gotta go find some locals for the scoop, then let US know where the cool places are.

I drive through Almond frequently, about once or twice a month. Anyway, when you come off of main street, turning north to get onto 86, there is a big hill on the east side of that road. It looks like atv or Jeep sized tracks going up that hill. Every time I drive by I think about spending some time riding there.
What's the word in that area? It's off the side of a major highway. I know people ride along route 104 in this area without problems. There's tons of snow mobile tracks on that hill in the winter. What about us atv/dirt bikers? See what you can find out.
There's a used car place right near there. Could probably ask permission to park at the back of his lot. Just thinking out loud here. But that hill just calls my name every time I drive by...
Oh yeah, you probably want to check out Majestic Trails. I've never been there, but I heard it's great. I think it's about an hour southwest of you. Here's their site http://www.majestictrails.com
Thanks,
Doug

Yo,
I've seen those tracks before and have often wondered....funny thing about the car dealership, I think it recently changed hands. I also think I may know the new owner....that would be cool. I'll have to look into that.
